Skylum (formerly Macphun) is a software development company based in Kyiv, Ukraine. It is most known for its award-winning photo editing software Luminar Neo and Aurora HDR. Skylum is also the developer of other photography apps for Mac such as Snapheal, Focus, Tonality, Intensify, Noiseless, and FX Photo Studio. History Skylum was founded as Macphun in 2008 by two gaming developers and amateur photographers, Dmitry Sytnik and Paul Muzok. Initially the company developed applications for iOS. One of its first applications was Vintage Video Maker, which was later named Vintagio. In 2009, Apple named Vintagio among Best iPhone apps of the year. In total, the company released over 60 applications in the first three years. However, it saw the greatest number of downloads in the photography applications. Aurora HDR
Aurora HDR is photographic software developed by Skylum Software (formerly Macphun) for Mac OS X and Windows. It attempted to create a powerful and simple yet fast HDR photo editing software. Aurora HDR is a High Dynamic Range (HDR) editing and processing tool released in November 2015. It was made through a collaboration between Skylum and HDR photographer Trey Ratcliff. HDR image editing techniques are designed to overcome difficult lighting situations where highlights and shadows are prevalent in the same image, but have also been used to create highly processed images as well. By automatically aligning and merging multiple exposures of photos, Aurora HDR can create a single tone-mapped image. A collection of editing and processing tools also allows layered compositions and targeted areas of photo and graphic processing. Trey Ratcliff (born July 7, 1971) is an American photographer, public speaker and writer. Personal life and education Born in Austin, Texas, on July 7, 1971, Trey Ratcliff is the son of Susan Ratcliff and Ray Ratcliff. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory in Texas before moving on to Southern Methodist University where he studied Computer Science. Ratcliff has three children with his ex-wife Tina, son Ethan and daughters Isabella and Scarlett. Multi-exposure HDR Capture
In photography and videography, multi-exposure HDR capture is a technique that creates extended or high dynamic range (HDR) images by taking and combining multiple exposures of the same subject matter at different exposure levels.
