Ma Yiming (boxer)
Ma Yiming (; born December 19, 1980) is a Chinese professional boxer and the former WBO China Zone flyweight and WBO Asia Pacific light flyweight champion. Professional career Ma debuted at the age of 26 in 2007 and lost five out of the first eight fights of his career. He won the vacant WBO China Zone flyweight title in his seventh fight. He would vacate and win this title again in 2010 against Mating Kilakil at the beginning of his winning streak, defending it a further three times. In his ninth straight victory in 2014 against veteran Tommy Seran, Ma won the vacant WBO Asia Pacific light flyweight championship via a wide unanimous decision, closing his winning streak. Randy Formemtera Petalcorin (born 31 December 1991) is a Filipino professional boxer who held the WBA interim light-flyweight title from 2014 to 2015. He has challenged twice for light-flyweight world championships; the IBF title in 2018 and the WBC title in 2019. Boxing in China began as a street sport in the 1920s, mainly in the port cities of Shanghai and Guangzhou, where foreign sailors were pitted against local fighters in the ring. An interim championship is an alternate title that is awarded by the sanctioning bodies of professional boxing, and in other combat sports such as kickboxing, professional wrestling, and mixed martial arts. Occasionally, the champion of a particular weight division is temporarily unable to defend his championship because of medical, legal, or other reasons beyond the competitor's control. When this case occurs, two highly ranked contenders may fight for an interim championship of the same weight division – leading to two champions existing in the same weight division simultaneously. Light flyweight, also known as junior flyweight or super strawweight, is a weight class in boxing. Professional boxing The weight limit at light flyweight in professional boxing is 108 pounds (49 kilograms). When New York legalized boxing in 1920, the law stipulated a "junior flyweight" class, with a weight limit of 99 pounds. When the National Boxing Association was formed in 1921, it also recognized this weight class. However, on January 19, 1922, the NBA decided to withdraw recognition of the junior flyweight division.
