MTV Germany
MTV is a German language free-to-air television channel operated by Paramount Global. The channel launched on 7 March 1997 as MTV Central, as part of a regionalisation strategy by MTV Networks Europe. Availability The channel primarily serves Germany, Austria and Switzerland, however it is widely available across Europe free-to-air. Between 2011 and 2017, the channel moved behind a paywall, limiting its availability mainly to German-speaking territories. On 24 November 2017 a free-to-air standard definition feed was added to Astra 19.2°E with German and English audio tracks. Pimp My Ride
''Pimp My Ride'' is a staged American television series produced by MTV and hosted by rapper Xzibit, which ran for six seasons on MTV from 2004 to 2007. In each episode, a car in poor condition is both restored and customized. The work on the show was done by West Coast Customs until season 5 and was done by Galpin Auto Sports thereafter. The show had several international adaptations, including '' Pimp My Ride UK'', ''Pimp My Ride International'' (in central Europe), and other adaptations in Brazil, Indonesia and the Baltic countries. It also spawned similar spinoffs, including the series '' Trick My Truck'' on MTV's sister network CMT. MTV News was the news production division of MTV. The service was available in the US with localized versions on MTV's global network and an online news team. In 2016, MTV refreshed the MTV News brand to compete with the likes of BuzzFeed and ''Vice'', but by mid-2017 MTV News was significantly downsized due to cutbacks. The MTV Euro Top 20 (previously known as the ''MTV European Top 20'') is a music chart show on MTV Europe that played Europe's most popular songs and artists. The original format of the show had been shown on the majority of the regional MTV channels in Europe and aired from 1988 until 2009. Viva (stylized VIVA, but not an acronym according to program director Dieter Gorny) was a German free-to-air Music television, music television channel, first broadcast on 1 December 1993. The channel was intended to compete against MTV Europe and was the sole German-language music TV channel after the closure of musicbox (German TV channel), musicbox in 1988, while MTV was only broadcast in English until the introduction of MTV (Germany), MTV Germany in 1997.
