MMA Lab
The MMA Lab (also known as MMA Lab and The Lab) is a mixed martial arts (MMA) gym based in Glendale, Arizona. It has produced two UFC champions, Benson Henderson (former UFC Lightweight Champion) and Sean O'Malley (former UFC Bantamweight Champion). History According to ''Bloody Elbow'', MMA Lab was incorporated on November 16, 2006, with its two largest shareholders being Khonkhor Enterprises and JBeck Investments. Both were investment companies owned by Royce Gracie and Jason Beck respectively. Beck previously trained at a Gracie Academy and had expressed interest in opening his own gym in central Arizona. He later brought in his training partner and Gracie Academy instructor, John Crouch to join MMA Lab. Benson Henderson (born November 16, 1983) is an American former professional mixed martial artist, who most recently competed in the Lightweight division for Bellator MMA. He is a former UFC Lightweight Champion and WEC Lightweight Champion. He is considered one of the greatest lightweight MMA fighters of all time and is tied with B.J. Penn, Frankie Edgar, and Khabib Nurmagomedov for the second-most UFC lightweight title defenses. James Varner (born October 12, 1984) is a retired American mixed martial artist who fought in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is the former WEC Lightweight Champion. Background Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Varner attended Deer Valley High School where he competed in wrestling. This is a list of notable present professional training camps and gyms in mixed martial arts (MMA). Most professional MMA fighters in the UFC, Bellator and other MMA promotions join a professional fight camp or training gym to help them prepare for fights. Training at a top camp can be a big advantage to fighters, as not only do they have access to multi-disciplinary coaching, but they can also train against the other top fighters at the camp and nominate members of the camp as corner men. By training a group of elite fighters together, they will all learn from each other's skill sets and can support each other living the disciplined fighter lifestyle. A professional from 2007 to 2018, he last competed for the Professional Fighters League, but is better known for his 19-fight tenure with the UFC. Background Story was born in Tacoma, Washington, and, at the age of three, his parents divorced. Story grew up in Spanaway, Washington, with his grandmother and his older sister, Elizabeth.
