MEF University
MEF University is a non-profit private university in Istanbul, founded by the İbrahim Arıkan Education and Scientific Research Foundation. It opened in the academic year 2014–2015. It is the first university in the world to adopt the "flipped classroom" educational model university-wide. MEF University is one of only eight universities in Turkey that have the ABET accreditation. It has received accreditation for all engineering departments. Muhammed Şahin
Muhammed Şahin (born 1965 in Pazar, Rize) is a Turkish academic. He is the former rector of Istanbul Technical University (2008-2012), and the founding rector of MEF University (2013 – present). He studied at Pazar Sivritepe Village Primary School, Pazar Secondary School and Pazar High School, He graduated from the Department of Geodesy and Photogrammetry (Geomatics) Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Istanbul Technical University in 1987. Şahin received his master's degree from University College London 1991, and his PhD degree from University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1994. Career He started his academic career in 1998 as a Research Fellow in the Department of Surveying Techniques at Istanbul Technical University and advanced through the ranks of assistant professor and associate professor. Maslak, Sarıyer, Istanbul
Maslak is a neighbourhood in Sarıyer, Istanbul Province, in Turkey. Its population is 12,260 (2022). It is one of the main business districts of Istanbul, located on the European side of the city. It was formerly an exclave of the municipality of Şişli, though being far north and actually closer to the municipalities of Sarıyer and Beşiktaş. A flipped classroom is an instructional strategy and a type of blended learning. It aims to increase student engagement and learning by having pupils complete readings at home, and work on live problem-solving during class time. This pedagogical style moves activities, including those that may have traditionally been considered homework, into the classroom. ABET
ABET (pronounced A-bet), formerly known as the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc., is a non-governmental accreditation organization for post-secondary programs in engineering, engineering technology, computing, and applied and natural sciences. ABET had accredited 4,674 programs across 920 organizations in 42 countries. ABET also accredits online educational programs. History In 1932, ABET was established as the American Engineers' Council for Professional Development (ECPD).
