Lønset is a village in Oppdal municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located along the Norwegian National Road 70, about west of the village of Vognillan and about west of the municipal center of Oppdal. The lakes Ångardsvatnet and Gjevilvatnet lie about to the north of Lønset. Lønset Church is located in the village and it is the parish church for the western part of Oppdal municipality. Lønset Church
Lønset Church ( no, Lønset kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Oppdal municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Lønset, along the Norwegian National Road 70 in the western part of the municipality. It is the church for the Lønset parish which is part of the Gauldal prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden church was built in an octagonal style in 1863 using plans drawn up by the architect Sjur Jamtseter and the carpenter J. Rønningen. The church seats about 250 people. History The first church in Lønset was a stave church that was likely located at Vindal, along the west shore of the river Vindøla, about northwest of the present church site. Gjevilvatnet
Gjevillvatnet (or ''Gjevilvatnet'') is a lake in the municipality of Oppdal in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the Trollheimen mountain range, about south of the mountain Blåhøa and about northwest of the village of Vognillan. The lake was regulated for hydroelectric power-production in the 1970s. Water is tapped from the bottom in the western part of the lake, for use in the Driva power station. In the spring, the water level can be below the natural water level. The river Festa runs out of the lake Gjevillvatnet, and it was once a very good trout river from where the lake is now, all the way down to the intake dam at the old powerstation (Vardammen). This river now mostly runs dry every year due to the dam on Gjevillvatnet, and the trout are almost non-existent in the watercourse. Ångardsvatnet
Ångardsvatnet is a lake in the municipality of Oppdal in Trøndelag county, Norway. The lake lies in the Storlidalen valley, about northwest of the village of Lønset and about west of the village of Oppdal. The lake is about long and about wide. It is surrounded by the Trollheimen mountain range including the mountains Gråfjellet, Kråkvasstind, and Lorthøa to the south and Bårdsgardskammen and Okla to the north. The lake Gjevillvatnet lies in the next valley to the north of Ångardsvatnet. Regulation The lake was regulated in connection with the development of Driva power plant, which opened in 1973. The lake Ångardsvatnet is connected to the lake Dalsvatnet through the river Haugelva, which is only long. The village is located at the junction of the European route E06 and the Norwegian National Road 70. is a municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is part of the Dovre region and the traditional district of Orkdalen. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Oppdal. Other villages in the municipality include Lønset, Vognillan, Fagerhaug, and Holan. The Oppdal Airport, Fagerhaug is located in the northeastern part of the municipality.
