Lynn Ponton
Dr. Lynn Elisabeth Ponton (born 3 October 1951) is a child and adolescent psychiatrist and professor at the University of California, San Francisco. She is the author of the books '' The Sex Lives of Teenagers'' and '' The Romance of Risk''. Her work in the area of adolescent risk-taking has had a high profile at a time of newfound sexual conservatism. Her media publications include MTV, ''Salon.com'', '' 60 Minutes'', and many more. A psychiatrist is a physician who specializes in psychiatry, the branch of medicine devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, study, and treatment of mental disorders. Psychiatrists are physicians and evaluate patients to determine whether their symptoms are the result of a physical illness, a combination of physical and mental ailments or strictly mental issues. Sometimes a psychiatrist works within a multi-disciplinary team, which may comprise clinical psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and nursing staff. Psychiatrists have broad training in a biopsychosocial approach to the assessment and management of mental illness. San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute
The San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis, formerly the San Francisco Psychoanalytic Society and Institute is a facility for psychoanalytic research, training, and education located on 2420 Sutter St. in San Francisco, California. The precursor of the SFCP was a society founded in 1941-1942 as the ''California Psychoanalytic Society'' (CPS) with branches in both San Francisco and Los Angeles. The CPS was under the sponsorship and supervision of the Topeka society, which at that time had jurisdiction over all psychoanalytic institutes in the United States west of Kansas. By 1946, the Los Angeles Psychoanalytic Society and Institute had become independent.
