Luz Banzon Magsaysay
Luz Rosauro-Magsaysay ( Banzon; June 25, 1914 – August 17, 2004) was the wife of Philippine President Ramon Magsaysay and the seventh First Lady of the Philippines. A native of Balanga, Magsaysay was devoted to her family, relatives and friends. She and Ramon had three children: Teresita (1934–1979), Milagros (b. 1936) and Ramon (b. 1938). The first lady or first gentleman of the Philippines ( fil, Unang Ginang o Unang Ginoó ng Pilipinas) is the courtesy title given to the host or hostess of Malacañang Palace, the residence of the head of state and head of government of the Philippines. 1957 Cebu Douglas C-47 Crash
On March 17, 1957, a C-47 Skytrain transport aircraft crashed on the slopes of Mount Manunggal on the island of Cebu in the Philippines. The crash killed 25 of the aircraft's 26 occupants, including the incumbent president of the Philippines, Ramon Magsaysay. Several high-ranking Philippine government ministers, military officials, and journalists were also among the dead. The sole survivor was a reporter for the ''Philippine Herald'', Nestor Mata. At the time of his death, President Magsaysay, a Nacionalista, was widely popular and was expected to easily win re-election in the presidential elections to be held in November 1957. Aircraft and crew The aircraft involved in the crash was a newly reconditioned twin engine C-47A-75-DL Skytrain, which was operated by the Philippine Air Force and served as the official presidential plane of Magsaysay. Ramon del Fierro Magsaysay Sr. (August 31, 1907 – March 17, 1957) was a Filipino statesman who served as the seventh president of the Philippines, from December 30, 1953, until his death in an aircraft disaster on March 17, 1957. An automobile mechanic by profession, Magsaysay was appointed military governor of Zambales after his outstanding service as a guerrilla leader during the Pacific War. He then served two terms as Liberal Party congressman for Zambales's at-large district before being appointed Secretary of National Defense by President Elpidio Quirino. He was elected president under the banner of the Nacionalista Party. He was the first Philippine president born in the 20th century and the first to be born after the Spanish colonial era. Victoria Quirino Delgado
Victoria "Vicky" Quirino-Gonzalez (born Victoria Syquia Quirino; May 18, 1931 – November 29, 2006) was the second daughter of Philippine President Elpidio Quirino. Since her father was a widower, she served as First Lady of the Philippines, becoming the youngest bearer of the title at the age of 16. Her mother, Alicia Syquia, as well as three of her siblings, were all massacred by Japanese troops as they occupied the country during the Second World War. Carolina Flores-Trinidad or Lina Flor (October 6, 1914 – February 11, 1976) was a writer from the Philippines. Writer of the hit radio drama ''Gulong ng Palad'', she was also a "society columnist, bilingual fictionist, scriptwriter, biographer and lyricist, as well as a cartoonist, an actress, even a journalism teacher." Career Just barely out of her teens, Flor was signed up as a radio performer for KZIB, a small radio station where she hosted a morning program.
