Luisa Laschi, also known as Luisa Laschi-Mombelli, (c. 1760 – c. 1790) was an Italian operatic soprano prominent in the opera houses of Austria and Italy. Amongst the numerous roles she created in her brief but intense career were Countess Almaviva in Mozart's ''Le nozze di Figaro'', Aspasia in Salieri's ''Axur, re d'Ormus'', and Isabella in Martín y Soler's ''Una cosa rara ' (''A Rare Thing, or Beauty and Honesty'') is an opera by the composer Vicente Martín y Soler. ''Axur, re d'Ormus'' ("Axur, king of Ormus") is an operatic dramma tragicomico in five acts by Antonio Salieri. The libretto was by Lorenzo Da Ponte. ''Axur'' is the Italian version of Salieri's 1787 French-language work ''Tarare (opera), Tarare'' which had a libretto by Pierre Beaumarchais, Beaumarchais. Synopsis Axur, King of the Persian Gulf kingdom of Ormus, orders one of his soldiers, Altamor, to abduct Aspasia, the wife of Atar, the heroic commander of Axur's army. Not knowing who kidnapped Aspasia but suspecting an overseas enemy, Atar speaks with the king and begs for justice. Moved by his appeal, Axur allows Atar to take a ship and seek his wife. Before Atar leaves, Axur's slave-servant, Biscroma, tells the general that the king has abducted Aspasia and hidden her in the royal harem. Domenico Mombelli
Domenico Mombelli (13 January 1755 – 15 March 1835) was an Italian operatic tenor and composer. Born in Villanova Monferrato, Mombelli was the head of a distinguished family of singers and musicians that included his first wife, Luisa Laschi who created the role of Countess Almaviva in '' The Marriage of Figaro''; his second wife, Vincenza Viganò-Mombelli who wrote the libretto for Rossini's '' Demetrio e Polibio''; and his daughters Ester and Anna, both of whom had successful careers as opera singers. He was also the founder and head of a travelling opera company which performed in Lisbon, Padua, and Milan from 1806 to 1811.
