Luigi Bruins
Luigi Bruins (born 9 March 1987) is a Dutch professional association football, footballer who plays as an Midfielder#Attacking midfielder, attacking midfielder for VV Smitshoek. After being declined by Feyenoord at the age of six, the Rotterdam-born went through the complete S.B.V. Excelsior, Excelsior youth academy. Bruins made his first team debut in the season 2004–05 Eerste Divisie, 2004–05 and managed to win the Eerste Divisie title in the subsequent season. After a successful Eredivisie debut, Bruins signed a four-year deal with the club that first declined him, Feyenoord. Bruins was part of the Netherlands national under-21 football team, Netherlands U21 squad winning the UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship in 2007 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship, 2007. The Eerste Divisie (, en, First Division) is the second-highest tier of football in the Netherlands. It is linked with the top-level Eredivisie and with the third-level Tweede Divisie via promotion/relegation systems. Sportclub Veendam () was a Dutch professional association football club based in Veendam, province of Groningen. Founded on 4 September 1894 as Look-Out, it became P.J. A penalty kick (commonly known as a penalty or a spot kick) is a method of restarting play in association football, in which a player is allowed to take a single shot at the goal while it is defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. It is awarded when an offence punishable by a direct free kick is committed by a player in their own penalty area. 2006–07 Eredivisie
The 2006–07 Eredivisie season began on August 18, 2006. The season saw PSV Eindhoven quickly building a gap with the other teams. After 20 matches, the club was 11 points ahead of AZ and 12 points ahead of Ajax. The lead quickly dissipated in the 13 matches that followed. A draw of PSV at FC Utrecht in the penultimate round saw AZ and Ajax catching up. The three clubs were all on 72 points from 33 matches, with the AZ on top due to goal difference.
