Lucius J. Henderson
Lucius Junius Henderson (June 8, 1861 – February 18, 1947) was an American silent film director and actor of the early silent period involved in more than 70 film productions. Biography Born in Aledo, Illinois, Henderson was a classically trained musician who later attended Harvard College. He began stage-acting in the early-1880s and later supported both Mesdames Modjeska and Janauschek in repertory. He entered film with the Thanhouser Company in late 1910, functioning as chiefly a director. In the autumn of 1913, Henderson led the Thanhouser company of players to Los Angeles. But while the unit quickly returned to New Rochelle, New York, Henderson remained behind to direct for Majestic and the Long Beach-located California Motion Picture Company. He was working for Universal Studios by 1915 and later claimed to have been the first to recognize the potential of Rudolph Valentino. Aledo, Illinois
Aledo (u--doh) is a city in Mercer County, Illinois, United States. The population was 3,640 at the 2010 census, up from 3,613 in 2000. It is the county seat of Mercer County. History Aledo was established in the 1850s when the railroad was extended to that point. It was briefly named DeSoto, after Hernando de Soto, until the discovery of an identically named village in Jackson County, Illinois. Development in the Downtown Aledo Historic District began in the 1850s, and the oldest surviving buildings date from the following decade. A post office has been in operation at Aledo since September 24, 1856. In 1857, the county seat was moved to Aledo from Millersburg after a countywide referendum. The film focuses on young blind woman, May Read, who is saved from her burning home by Frank Larson. In the act of saving her, Frank is disfigured, but the two fall and love, marry and have a child. Two years later, the family physician offers to restore May's sight through a surgery. Frank consents despite his fears that May will not love him if she gazes upon his disfigured face. The surgery is a success and the doctor tells May not to remove the bandages. May ignores this warning and is permanently blinded after attempting to gaze at her husband, but she is content knowing her baby is beautiful. Directed by Lucius J.
