Lotus Broadcasting
Lotus Communications Corporation is a media company that owns numerous radio stations and a few TV stations, and is one of the largest privately owned radio station groups in the United States. Headquarters are located in Los Angeles, and the company's President and CEO is Howard Kalmenson. Radio , Lotus has a total of 34 stations in Arizona, California, and Nevada. In August 2018, Lotus announced that it would acquire Scripps' Tucson and Boise clusters for $8 million. To comply with ownership limits due to its existing stations in Tucson, Lotus divested KQTH and KTGV. In June 2021, Sinclair Broadcast Group agreed to sell KOMO (AM), KOMO-FM, KVI and KPLZ to Lotus Communications for $18 million. Sinclair retained KOMO-TV, plus rights to the KOMO call letters. Broadcasting is the distribution of audio or video content to a dispersed audience via any electronic mass communications medium, but typically one using the electromagnetic spectrum (radio waves), in a one-to-many model. Broadcasting began with AM radio, which came into popular use around 1920 with the spread of vacuum tube radio transmitters and receivers. Before this, all forms of electronic communication (early radio, telephone, and telegraph) were one-to-one, with the message intended for a single recipient. KCMT (92.1 FM) is an American Regional Mexican radio station that serves Tucson, Arizona. KCMT is licensed to broadcast from Green Valley, Arizona (a southern suburb of Tucson), and broadcasts on the frequency of 92.1 MHz. KCMT is owned by small radio company Lotus Communications. Its studios and transmitter are located separately in Northwest Tucson. KCMT has been the highest-rated Spanish-language radio station in the Tucson radio market in the Arbitron ratings. KGST
KGST (1600 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Fresno, California, broadcasting an ethnic radio format. It is owned by Lotus Communications with studios on East Olive Avenue in Fresno. The station uses a brokered programming plan, with shows in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Armenian. KGST is powered at 5,000 watts. By day, it is non-directional. But at night, to avoid interfering with other stations on 1600 AM, it uses a directional antenna with a four-tower array. KQKZ (92.1 FM "Q92.1") is a commercial radio station that is licensed to serve the community of Bakersfield, California. It is owned by Lotus Communications. Its studios are located in southwest Bakersfield, while its transmitter is located northeast of the city. It is a classic hits station branded Q92.1 (pronounced Q ninety-two-one).
