Los Chichos
Los Chichos is a Spanish band that was formed in the mid-1970s by singer-songwriter Juan Antonio Jiménez and brothers Julio and Emilio González. The band reached its peak popularity in the 1980s and restructured in 1990 when Jiménez began his solo career. Los Chichos has sold 20 million records, making it one of the best-selling Spanish groups in history. They performed the popular rumba flamenca in the vein of Los Chunguitos. History Formation Emilio and Julio González were born to a family of twelve brothers from Madrid who had migrated to La Mancha seeking work. Emilio left the countryside for Salamanca to pursue a job as a musician with friends the Farina brothers. Catalan Rumba
The Catalan rumba ( ca, rumba catalana, ) is a genre of music that developed in Barcelona's Romani community beginning in the 1950s and 1960s. Its rhythms are derived from the Andalusian flamenco rumba, with influences from Cuban music and rock and roll. The Catalan rumba originated in the Romani communities in the Gràcia, ''carrer (street) de la Cera del Raval'' and Hostafrancs neighborhoods. The Romani community in those neighborhoods is long-established and bilingual in Catalan and were influenced by the heavy Andalusian immigration to Barcelona during this period. The genre is based in a fusion of Catalan-Andalusian flamenco singing and the Afro-Cuban claves. Las Grecas was a Spanish musical duo of Flamenco - rock music, rock formed in 1973 by two Romani people, romani sisters, Carmela Muñoz Barrull (Valladolid, July 19, 1954), and Edelina Muñoz Barrull (Madrid, February 17, 1957 - Aranjuez, January 30, 1995), better known as Tina. They had a huge initial success with the theme "Te estoy amando locamente" (I love you madly) which sold 500,000 copies. Their career later declined when the Muñoz sisters decided to dissolute Las Grecas.
