Living TV Group was a British television consortium originally called Flextech before becoming a subsidiary of Sky Group, British Sky Broadcasting, with Challenge (TV channel), Challenge still broadcasting. Living TV Group had several owned channels, available in the United Kingdom on Digital terrestrial television, digital territorial television, satellite television and cable television platforms and in Ireland on satellite and cable television. Living TV Group's advertising for all of its channels was handled by former sister company Interactive Digital Sales (IDS) until 1 January 2011, when Sky Media took over. Alibi (TV Channel)
Alibi is a British pay television channel that was launched on 1 November 1997 as UK Arena. It was renamed UK Drama in 2000, and then UKTV Drama in 2004, and assumed its current name on 7 October 2008. History The channel originally launched as part of the new four channel UKTV network on 1 November 1997. The channel, originally named UK Arena, focused on arts programming and was named after the BBC's flagship arts programme ''Arena'' (The BBC, through BBC Worldwide, owning half of UKTV and therefore half the channel). The channel aired as a part-time service, airing from 7pm-7am every day. The company operates 68 television channels and 31 radio stations in Germany, France and other European countries. Channel 5 is a British free-to-air public broadcast television channel launched in 1997. It is the fifth national terrestrial channel in the United Kingdom and is owned by Channel 5 Broadcasting Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of American media conglomerate Paramount Global, which is grouped under Paramount Networks UK & Australia division. During ownership by the RTL Group, it was branded as Five between 16 September 2002 and 13 February 2011. Ftn (TV Channel)
FTN (Flextech Television Network) was a television channel from Virgin Media Television (formerly known as Flextech) transmitting free-to-air on Freeview and Virgin Media, and as a subscription channel on Sky. The channel broadcast between 6pm and 6am daily. It launched at 6pm on 15 January 2003, the same day as its Freeview version, UK Bright Ideas, also partially owned by Virgin Media Television. FTN's schedule featured entertainment and reality programming, and also programming from other Virgin Media Television cable channels, such as Living, Living2, Bravo, Bravo 2, Trouble TV, and Challenge TV. This provided a preview to Freeview viewers of what the Virgin Media channels offered, in a similar fashion to BSkyB's Sky Three, a channel which was also on Freeview. David Karp (May 5, 1922 – September 11, 1999) was an American novelist and television writer. He also used the pseudonyms Wallace Ware and Adam Singer. Life and career Born in Manhattan, Karp worked for his living from an early age. His employment included selling shirts from an outdoor stand, theatre-ushering, leading a recreation group, and dish-washing. In 1942, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Signal Corps in the Philippines and in Japan. Karp left the Army in 1946 and continued his interrupted education, graduating from the City College of New York in 1948. He started his media career as a continuity writer for a New York radio station and published his first novel in 1952. When writing for television he often tackled controversial topics. BBC Red Button is a brand used for digital interactive television services provided by the BBC, and broadcast in the United Kingdom. The services replaced Ceefax, the BBC's analogue teletext service. Freeview (UK)
Freeview is the United Kingdom's sole digital terrestrial television platform. It is operated by Digital UK Ltd and DTV Services Ltd, a joint venture between the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky. It was launched on 30 October 2002, taking over the licence from ITV Digital which collapsed that year. The service provides consumer access via an aerial to the seven DTT multiplexes covering the United Kingdom. As of July 2020, it has 85 TV channels, 26 digital radio channels, 10 HD channels, six text services, 11 streamed channels, and one interactive channel.
