The Black River is a river in Cochrane District and Timiskaming District in Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It is part of the James Bay drainage basin, and is a right tributary of the Abitibi River. The municipality of Black River-Matheson is named after the river. Course The river begins at an unnamed lake in geographic Morrisette Township in the municipality of Kirkland Lake, Timiskaming District, just north of Kirkland Lake Airport, and heads north into geographic Bisley Township in Cochrane District, then turns northwest, and enters geographic Melba Township in the municipality of Black River-Matheson. The Black River is a river in Thunder Bay District in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. It is part of the Great Lakes Basin, and is a left tributary of the Pic River. Course The river begins at an unnamed lake and heads southwest through geographic Nickle Township into the municipality of Manitouwadge to Agonzon Lake. It exits the lake over a dam east, then resumes a southwest course, passes under Ontario Highway 614, through geographic Lecours Township, then under Ontario Highway 17 and the Canadian Pacific Railway main line.
