Lita Spena
Lita Spena (October 4, 1904-1989) was an Argentine composer, performer, and teacher who used Argentine folk tunes in her compositions. Spena was born into a musical family in Buenos Aires. Her father, composer Lorenzo Spena, emigrated from Naples, Italy, to Buenos Aires in 1901. He founded the Clementi Conservatory and composed at least two operas. Spena studied music with her parents as a child, then attended the Conservatorio Nacional Superior de Música Argentina, where she later taught. Her students included Ruben Ferrero and Waldo de los Rios. In 1929, she founded and began performing with the Argentine Trio. Spena used themes from Argentine folksongs in her compositions. She composed songs based on texts by German Berdiales, Alfredo R. Bufano, Julia Crespo, Andre Gide, Horacio Guillén, Jorge Jantus, Carlos Mingo,and Juan Vignale. Conservatorio Nacional Superior De Música (Argentina)
The Conservatorio Nacional Superior de Música is the national music conservatory for Argentina and it is located in Buenos Aires. History Ernesto de la Guardia, a member of the Wagnerian Society of Buenos Aires, first proposed the creation of a national conservatory. He gained support from the president Marcelo Torcuato de Alvear and his wife Regina Pacini a noted soprano, the ''Conservatorio Nacional de Música y Declamación'' (National Conservatory of Music and Recitation) was founded by Argentine musician Carlos López Buchardo, among others, on July 7, 1924. Waldo De Los Ríos
Osvaldo Nicolás Ferraro Gutiérrez (7 September 1934 – 28 March 1977) better known as Waldo de los Ríos was an Argentine composer, conductor and arranger. De los Ríos was born in Buenos Aires into a musical family; his father was a musician and his mother a well known folk singer; he studied composition and arranging at the National Conservatory of Music under Alberto Ginastera, Teodoro Fuchs, and Lita Spena. He was inspired by an eclectic range of music and formed a musical group called "The Waldos" which crossed folk music with electronic sounds. De los Ríos turned to work in cinema and film sound tracks where his compositions were heard in the 1967 film '' Savage Pampas'', for which he received a prestigious award from the Argentine Academy of Cinematography Arts and Sciences. Carlo Lorenzini (24 November 1826 – 26 October 1890), better known by the pen name Carlo Collodi (), was an Italian author, humourist, and journalist, widely known for his fairy tale novel ''The Adventures of Pinocchio''. Early life Collodi was born in Florence on 24 November 1826. His mother, Angiolina Orzali Lorenzini, was a seamstress from Collodi, the town from which he later took the pen name, and his father, Domenico Lorenzini, was a cook.
