This is a list of those who have served as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam ( vi, Chủ tịch nước Cộng hòa xã hội chủ nghĩa Việt Nam) from the establishment of the position to the present. Since Vietnam is a single-party state, the president is generally considered to hold the second highest position in the political system, after the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam. In its current incarnation the president is the head of state of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, as well as the head of government in tandem with prime minister. The president represents Vietnam internally and externally, supervises the work as well as preserving the stability of the national governmental system and safeguards the independence and territorial integrity of the country. Nguyễn Xuân Phúc
Nguyễn Xuân Phúc (born 20 July 1954) is a Vietnamese politician currently serving as the President of Vietnam, one of the highest-ranked officials in Vietnam along with Nguyễn Phú Trọng, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (''de facto'' leader). Nguyễn Xuân Phúc ranked 2nd in the Communist Party's 13th Politburo behind Nguyễn Phú Trọng and was ranked 3rd in the 12th Politburo. Nguyễn Xuân Phúc is also a full member of the National Assembly, serving in its 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th terms. He was elected to the post by the National Assembly of Vietnam on 5 April 2021 after serving 5 years as Prime Minister of the country. People's Revolutionary Party (Vietnam)
The People's Revolutionary Party of Vietnam ( vi, Đảng Nhân dân Cách mạng Việt Nam) was a political party in South Vietnam established in 1962. It provided leadership for the Việt Cộng uprising. In 1976, the party was merged with the Workers' Party of Vietnam in North Vietnam to form the Communist Party of Vietnam. The PRP was founded on January 1, 1962. Tôn Đức Thắng
Tôn Đức Thắng (August 20, 1888 – March 30, 1980) was the second and last president of North Vietnam and the first president of the reunified Vietnam under the leadership of General Secretary Lê Duẩn. The position of president is ceremonial and Thắng was never a major policymaker or even a member of the Politburo, Vietnam's ruling council. He served as president, initially of North Vietnam from September 2, 1969, and later of a united Vietnam, until his death in 1980. Tôn Đức Thắng was a key Vietnamese nationalist and Communist political figure, was chairman of the National Assembly's Standing Committee 1955–1960 and served as the vice president to Hồ Chí Minh from 1960 to 1969. Huỳnh Thúc Kháng
Huỳnh Thúc Kháng ( chữ Hán: ; 1 October 1876 – 21 April 1947), also known as Cụ Huỳnh (lit: 'Great-grandfather' Huỳnh), was a Vietnamese anti-colonial activist, statesman and journalist, most notably serving as Acting President of Vietnam and President of the Annamese House of Representatives. He was born in Tiên Phước District in Quảng Nam Province, the same district from which Phan Chu Trinh hailed. Kháng went on to top the imperial examinations in 1900. Along with Phan Chu Trinh and Trần Quý Cáp, Kháng led the Duy Tân movement, for which he was imprisoned in Côn Đảo island by the French from 1908 to 1919.
