List Of Political Parties In El Salvador
This article lists political parties in El Salvador. Political culture El Salvador has a multi-party system. Two political parties, the Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA) and the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN), have tended to dominate elections. ARENA candidates won four consecutive presidential elections until the election of Mauricio Funes of the FMLN in March 2009. Geographically, the departments of the Central region, especially the capital and the coastal regions, known as departamentos rojos, or red departments, are relatively Leftist. The departamentos azules, or blue departments in the east, western and highland regions are relatively conservative. In February 2021, El Salvador's legislative election was an important breakthrough. Vamos (El Salvador)
Vamos ( en, link=no, Let's Go) is a Salvadoran political party. It was registered to the Supreme Electoral Court (TSE) on 4 November 2017 by obtaining 57,382 signatures as stated by law and legalised on 11 November 2017. In addition to being described as a centrist party, it accepts people from the left and the right. History Vamos participated for the first time in the 2019 presidential election, with the party's membership electing Josué Alvarado as their presidential candidate and Roberto Rivera Ocampo for the vice-presidential candidate. Grand Alliance For National Unity
The Grand Alliance for National Unity (GANA; es, Gran Alianza por la Unidad Nacional) is a political party in El Salvador. The party established itself on 16 January 2010 and was recognized by the Supreme Electoral Court of El Salvador on 19 May of the same year. The majority of party members came from the ARENA. Originally the defection from ARENA included 12 deputies in the Legislative Assembly, but this number has grown to 16. GANA ranks third in seats in the assembly with 11, after the FMLN's 31 and the ARENA's remaining 28.
