Jean-Paul Racine
Jean-Paul Racine (8 February 1928 – 13 January 1988) was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Saint-Honoré-de-Shenley, Quebec and became a lumber merchant and manufacturer by career. He was first elected at the Beauce riding in the 1958 general election and served one term before being defeated there in 1962 by Gérard Perron of the Social Credit party. Crowfoot (electoral District)
Crowfoot was a federal electoral district in Alberta, Canada, that was represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1968 to 2015. It was located in the central part of the province, and is named in honour of Chief Crowfoot, leader of the Blackfoot First Nations in the 19th century. Even by the standards of rural Alberta, Crowfoot was a strongly conservative riding. The major right-wing party of the day-- Progressive Conservative (1968-1993), Reform (1993-2000), Canadian Alliance (2000-2003) and Conservative (after 2003)-- won every election in this riding, usually by some of the largest recorded margins in Canadian politics. As a measure of how conservative this riding is, Jack Horner, the riding's original member, crossed the floor to the Liberals in 1977, only to tumble to only 18 percent of the vote in 1979. The Reform Party of Canada (french: Parti réformiste du Canada) was a right-wing populist and conservative federal political party in Canada that existed under that name from 1987 to 2000. Reform was founded as a Western Canada-based protest movement that eventually became a populist conservative party, with strong Christian right influence and social conservative elements. It was initially motivated by the perceived need for democratic reforms and by profound Western Canadian discontent with the Progressive Conservative Party (PC Party). Jack Ramsay (politician)
F.J. "Jack" Ramsay (born August 23, 1937) is a former Reform Party of Canada member of the House of Commons of Canada and former Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer. He was later convicted for indecent assault for actions during his time as an officer. Western Canada Concept Ramsay took over the leadership of the Western Canada Concept, a party that advocated the separation of western Canada to form an independent nation, at the end of 1982. He acted as its leader until 1987, the year he joined the Reform Party. In April 1982, the party's executive drew up a Statement of Independence which committed any future WCC government to "prepare for independence in a peaceful and democratic manner". James Layton Ralston
James Layton Ralston (September 27, 1881 – May 22, 1948) was a Canadian lawyer, soldier and politician. Biography Born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Ralston graduated from law school at Dalhousie University in 1903 and practised law in Amherst. Ralston was the federal Liberal candidate for Cumberland in the 1908 federal election but was unsuccessful in being elected. He subsequently entered public life when he ran as the provincial Liberal candidate for Cumberland and was elected in the 1911 provincial election. He was re-elected in 1916. Ralston served in World War I as an officer in the 85th Battalion (Nova Scotia Highlanders), rising to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1918, and was decorated for bravery. He was promoted to commanding officer of the Nova Scotia Highlanders and pursued a career as a professional soldier in Canada's post-war army, rising to the rank of colonel in 1924. Canadian Alliance
The Canadian Alliance (french: Alliance canadienne), formally the Canadian Reform Conservative Alliance (french: Alliance réformiste-conservatrice canadienne), was a centre-right to right-wing federal political party in Canada that existed under that name from 2000 to 2003. The Canadian Alliance was the new name of the Reform Party of Canada and inherited many of its populist policies, as well as its position as the Official Opposition in the House of Commons of Canada. James Rajotte (born August 19, 1970) is a Canadian politician who currently serves as Alberta's senior representative to the United States. He served as a Member of Parliament from 2004 to 2015. As a member of the Conservative Party of Canada in the House of Commons of Canada, Rajotte was chair of Parliament's Standing Committee on Finance. Previously he was chair of the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology. He represented the riding of Edmonton Southwest from 2000 to 2004.
