The mayor of Albuquerque, New Mexico is the chief executive officer of the city, elected for a four-year term. There are no term limits for the mayor. Under the New Mexico State Constitution, municipal elections are nonpartisan. The 30th and current Mayor is Tim Keller, a Democrat. History Henry N. Jaffa was elected the first mayor of Albuquerque in 1885. The city was governed by a mayor until the transition to a City Commission government in 1917. Under this system, the leader of city government in Albuquerque was the Chairman of the City Commission. In 1975, due to large growth in the city, voters replaced the Commission system with a City Council system. After the change occurred, voters once again elected a mayor. Tim Keller (politician)
Timothy M. Keller (born November 22, 1977) is an American businessman and politician serving as the 30th mayor of Albuquerque, New Mexico. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as New Mexico State auditor before resigning to become mayor on December 1, 2017. He is also a former member of the New Mexico State Senate, representing the 17th district. Early life and education Keller was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His father was a founder of Union Savings Bank and his mother was a public school teacher and homemaker. Francis Joseph McKee (25 January 1923 – 24 July 1988) was a Scottish professional footballer who played as a half-back. He played in the Scottish League for Dundee United in the 1947–48 season, and in the English Football League for Birmingham City and Gillingham between 1948 and 1955. He began his career with junior club Lochgelly Albert, and went on to play for Southern League clubs Gloucester City, for whom he scored once in 26 appearances, and Kidderminster Harriers. Frank Willey Clancy (15 January 1852 – 1 September 1928) was Attorney General of New Mexico (1909–1916), as well as Mayor of Albuquerque (1898). Life Clancy was born on 15 January 1852 in Dover, New Hampshire, the son of Michael Albert Clancy and Lydia Ardilla Willey, and brother of Harry Smith Clancy. In 1873 he graduated with a LL. B from the law school at Columbian University (now George Washington University) in Washington, DC. He moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1874, and was admitted to the bar in New Mexico. From 1875-1876 he was the Clerk of District court Second District in Albuquerque. In 1877 he moved East for two years, and became the Secretary to the Assistant Secretary of Treasury, R.C.
