This is a list of compositions by Alexander Scriabin. The list is categorized by Genre, with Piano works organized by style of piece. Vasily Kalafati
Vasily Pavlovich Kalafati (russian: Василий Павлович Калафати, ''Vasilij Pavlovič Kalafati''; , Yevpatoria, Crimea – 20 March 1942, near Leningrad) was a Russian composer and pedagogue of Greek descent. Kalafati was a pupil of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory, and would also teach composition and music theory there between 1907 and 1929, having been promoted to professor in 1923. His own students included Alexander Scriabin, Igor Stravinsky, and Heino Eller. He died during the German siege of Leningrad in World War II. Although largely forgotten after his death, Kalafati was one of the most important composers in Russia during his lifetime. Ethel Bartlett (1896–1978) and Rae Robertson (1893–1956), popularly known as Bartlett and Robertson, were a husband-and-wife classical piano duo who were credited with popularising two-piano music in Europe and the United States in the 1930s and 1940s through their extensive touring, recordings, and radio performances. Of English and Scottish background respectively, Bartlett and Robertson met during their studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London and married in 1921. Although they initially pursued solo careers, they teamed up as duo-pianists in the late 1920s and conducted annual international tours for over two decades. Sonata-Fantaisie In G-sharp Minor (Scriabin)
Alexander Scriabin's Sonate-Fantaisie in G-sharp minor (or Sonata-Fantaisie) was composed in 1886, when he was fourteen. It was dedicated to Natalya Sekerina, the sweetheart of his adolescence. A portentous introduction leads to a gentle, idyllic first movement highly reminiscent of Chopin in its flow of melody. The opening ''Andante'' gives way to a more agitated sonata movement. The cadence theme, especially on its return where it is accompanied by simple chords rather than flowing accompaniment figures, has a touch of a mazurka about it. The development section, with its broken tenths in the left hand and the polyphony in the treble, is very original in its sonorities. The end introduces a reminiscence of an ensuing idea in the introduction. Its chromaticism is highly characteristic of Scriabin's later works.
