Harold Lief
Harold I. Lief (1917–2007) was an American psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. He was famous as an advocate of sex education. Lief is credited with the introduction in the DSM of the "inhibited sexual desire". Early life and education Lief, who was born in Brooklyn, attended the University of Michigan and graduated from the New York University School of Medicine in 1942. Lief's psychoanalytic training was at Columbia University. Career While a professor of psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania, Lief started organizing the Center for the Study of Sex Education in Medicine In 1960. Jacob Lief is an internationally recognized social entrepreneur, author, and Founder and CEO oUbuntu Pathways a nonprofit organization based in Port Elizabeth, South Africa that breaks the cycle of poverty by providing vulnerable children with a holistic support system of education, healthcare, and social services. Early years In 1989, Lief's family moved to London where he studied at the American School in London. Leonard Lief
Leonard Lief (June 14, 1924 – July 30, 2007) was the founding president of Herbert H. Lehman College a Bronx institution that is one of the senior colleges of the City University of New York. Lief was the college's president for more than two decades, from 1968 to 1990, solidifying it as a college with a liberal arts focus on a tree-lined campus. Leonard Lief was educated at New York University on the G. I. Bill, obtained a master's degree at Columbia University, and a doctorate at Syracuse University in 1953. He became a member of the Hunter College faculty in 1955, and moved to the Bronx campus in 1963 He later became the provost of the Bronx campus, before it was made into Herbert H. Lehman College.
