Ahmed Lemu, '' OON, OFR,'' (21 December 1929 – 24 December 2020) was a Nigerian Islamic scholar, educationist and jurist, who was the first grand khadi and chief justice of Niger State. He was the founder of Islamic Educational Trust (IET) together with his wife Aisha Lemu and a friend Ashafa Sani Suleiman. He was a member of the Vision 2010 Committee constituted by Sani Abacha, and in 2011 he was appointed as the Chairman of Presidential Committee on Post Election Violence by Goodluck Jonathan to probe the violence which followed the announcement of the 2011 presidential Election results in Northern Nigeria. Massa Lemu is a visual artist and writer from Malawi who works in painting, drawing, and performance and text-based conceptual work. He describes his art as "interventions and descriptions of the disputed social space we all live in". Early life and education Massa Lemu was born in 1979 in Blantyre. His early artistic influence was his late uncle, David Zuze, who painted as a hobby; Lemu watched his uncle paint. Lemu received his Bachelor of Education Degree (with a major in Fine Arts) from the University of Malawi in 2003 and Master of Arts in Painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design (USA) in 2009. Work Lemu's paintings include combinations of natural, human-made, and imaginary aspects as part of commenting on issues. Aisha Lemu
Aisha Lemu, '' MON'' (died 5 January 2019) was a British-born author and religious educator who converted to Islam in 1961 and lived most of her life in Nigeria. Life Lemu was born in Poole, Dorset, in 1940, as Bridget Honey. At the age of thirteen, she began to question her faith and began exploring other religions including Hinduism and Chinese Buddhism. She studied at the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), pursuing her interest in Chinese history, language and culture. While there, she met Muslims who gave her Islamic literature to read and she converted to Islam at the Islamic Cultural Centre in 1961, during her first year of study. She subsequently helped to found the Islamic Society at SOAS, becoming its first secretary, and also assisted in the formation of the Federation of Student Islamic Societies.
