''Left Over Ladies'' (also written as ''Leftover Ladies'') is a 1931 American drama film starring Claudia Dell, Marjorie Rambeau and Walter Byron.Cocchi p.56 Produced by Tiffany Pictures, it was originally going to be directed by Lloyd Bacon before Erle C. Kenton took over. Synopsis After a society divorce, Patricia Worth refuses any alimony from her wealthy husband and plans to make a living as a writer. She encounters a recently-divorced writer who has made success out of his book celebrating divorce, but is in truth distraught that his wife has left him. They apparently fall in love, but both their former partners - including Patricia's husband Ronny who has become entangled with a gold digger - decide they want them back. Alan Mowbray
Alan Mowbray (born Alfred Ernest Allen; 18 August 1896 – 25 March 1969) was an English stage and film actor who found success in Hollywood. Early life Mowbray was born in London, England. He served with distinction in the British Army in World War I, being awarded the Military Medal and the French Croix de Guerre for bravery in action. He applied for transfer to the Royal Air Force, which was granted just six days before the war ended. This placed him in London on Armistice Day. His service came to an end when the Royal Air Force wanted another seven years from him. Career Mowbray began his stage career in London in 1922, as an actor and stage manager. In 1923 he arrived in the United States and was soon acting with New York stock companies. He debuted on Broadway in ''The Sport of Kings'' (1926); in 1929 he wrote, directed and starred in the unsuccessful ''Dinner Is Served''. Franklyn Farnum (born William Smith; June 5, 1878 – July 4, 1961) was an American character actor and Hollywood extra who appeared in at least 1,100 films. He was also cast in more films that won the Academy Award for Best Picture than any other performer in American film industry. He was also credited as Frank Farnum. Selmer Adolf Jackson (May 7, 1888 – March 30, 1971) was an American stage film and television actor. He appeared in nearly 400 films between 1921 and 1963. His name was sometimes spelled Selmar Jackson. Jackson was born in Lake Mills, Iowa and died in Burbank, California from a heart attack. Jackson gained early acting experience in stock theater, working with groups such as the Des Moines Stock Company. Jackson's screen debut was in the silent film ''The Supreme Passion'' (1921).
