Lee Griffeth
Leon Clifford Griffeth (May 20, 1925 – August 3, 2007) was an American Major League Baseball pitcher. Listed at 5' 11", 180 lb., he was a switch-hitter and threw left-handed. Born in Carmel, New York, Griffeth pitched briefly for the Philadelphia Athletics during the 1946 season. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding.
