Leanne Van Dyk
Leanne Van Dyk (born 1955 in Grand Rapids, Michigan) is an American reformed theologian and theological educator. She has focused much of her work on atonement theology and the development of theological education. She is the tenth president of Columbia Theological Seminary. Career Van Dyk received a B.A. from Calvin College (1977), an M.A. from Western Michigan University (1982), an M.Div. from Calvin Theological Seminary (1987) from which she was recently given the Distinguished Alumni Award, and a Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary (1992). She additionally spent a year studying at the Theologische Hogeschool van de Gereformeerde Kerken in het Nederland, Kampen, The Netherlands (1985). In 2007, she was ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA). Columbia Theological Seminary is a Presbyterian seminary in Decatur, Georgia. It is one of ten theological institutions affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). History Columbia Theological Seminary was founded in 1828 in Lexington, Georgia, by several Presbyterian ministers. Western Michigan University (Western Michigan, Western or WMU) is a public research university in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Calvin Theological Seminary is a private Christian Reformed Church seminary in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It is closely tied to Calvin University, though each institution has its own board. History The seminary was founded in 1876 with the purpose of preparing ministers for the Christian Reformed Church. The San Francisco Theological Seminary (SFTS) is a seminary in San Anselmo, California with historic ties to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). SFTS became embedded in a new Graduate School of Theology of the University of Redlands in 2019. It was founded by the Synod of California in 1871. The Graduate Theological Union (GTU) is a consortium of eight private independent American theological schools and eleven centers and affiliates. Seven of the theological schools are located in Berkeley, California. The GTU was founded in 1962 and their students can take courses at the University of California, Berkeley.
