Devonshire Primary Academy is a coeducational primary school with academy status, located in the Layton area of Blackpool, Lancashire, England. This school is located on Devonshire Road halfway between the residential area of Layton, and Blackpool town centre. It was formerly known as Devonshire Road Junior School and then Devonshire Primary School before being renamed in 2013. Devonshire Road Junior School The original school on the site, Devonshire Road Junior School was built in the 19th century. On 23 August 2003 the school suffered an arson attack causing £7m worth of damage. Over fifty firefighters fought the blaze which caused extensive damage to the school building. Pupils were forced to re-locate to Boundary School, two miles away. The building was eventually demolished and rebuilt as a modern, state-of-the-art school. Blackpool Aspire Academy is a secondary school located in the Layton area of Blackpool, Lancashire, England. The school was formed in 2014 by merging Collegiate High School with Bispham High School Arts College. It was temporarily located on Bispham Road until new buildings were constructed on Blackpool Old Road. School history The original school at the site was the all-boys Blackpool Grammar School, which had relocated from the original premises on Raikes Parade to Blackpool Old Road in 1961. In 1971 they amalgamated with Collegiate Girls School whose pupils and staff moved to Blackpool Old Road to create Blackpool Collegiate Grammar School. The sixth form moved to a new Sixth Form Centre premises further down Blackpool Old Road also in 1971 and what is now the independent Blackpool Sixth Form College which split from the school in 1989. The school was involved with the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) scheme and, despite the scheme being cancelled, it was announced in August 2010 that for this school it would go ahead. Blackpool North Railway Station
Blackpool North railway station is the main station serving the seaside resort of Blackpool in Lancashire, England. It is the terminus of the main Blackpool branch line and is northwest of Preston. The station was opened in its present form in 1974, and succeeded a previous station a few hundred yards away on Talbot Road which had first opened in 1846 and had been rebuilt in 1898. The present station is based on the 1938 concrete canopy which covered the entrance to the former excursion platforms of the old station. Kingscote Park, Blackpool
Kingscote Park is a municipal park extending over in Layton, a suburb of Blackpool in the county of Lancashire, England. The park is the second largest park within Blackpool after Stanley Park and the largest park in Layton. Background Kingscote Park is bordered on the north by Grange Road, Nethway Avenue to the east, Bardsway Avenue and Blairway Avenue to the south and Kingscote Drive along the western side. The park has a large field to the North with trees along the west and south sides, with another field to the south-east which has trees along the south, east and western sides, a children's playground, tarmac sports area. There is a disused building to the south west of the park. The friends of Kingcote Park are currently fundraising to demolish the existing building and build a new community centre.
