Laurelee Kopeck
Laurelee Kopeck (born July 17, 1969 in Nelson, British Columbia) is a former field hockey defender from Canada, who earned a total number of 163 international caps for the Canadian National Team during her career. Nicknamed "Jumbo", she graduated from the University of Victoria (sociology/psychology) in 1996. Kopeck also played club hockey in Hamburg, Germany. 1991 Pan American Games
The 1991 Pan American Games were held in Havana, Cuba from August 2 to August 18, 1991. There were 4,519 athletes from 39 countries of the PASO community, with events in 33 different sports. The main stadium was the Estadio Panamericano, a multi-use stadium in Havana that holds 50,000 people. Host city election Havana was the only non-withdrawn bid to host the 1991 Pan American Games. At the Pan American Games (ODEPA) Assembly, from November 12 to 14, 1986, in Bridgetown, Barbados, Mar del Plata withdrew its bid, leaving Havana as the winner to host the Games. London, Ontario, Canada also submitted a bid, but withdrew from the bid process due to the federal government prohibiting all funding from any international multi-sport events (aside from the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics). 2001 Women's Hockey World Cup Qualifier
The 2001 Women's Hockey Intercontinental Cup was the sixth edition of the women's field hockey tournament. The event was held from 17–30 September, across two host cities, Abbeville and Amiens in France. England won the tournament for the first time after defeating Russia 4–0 in the final. Ukraine finished in third place, defeating Japan 4–3 in penalties following a 1–1 draw. The tournament served as a qualifier for the 2002 FIH World Cup in Perth, with the top six teams qualifying automatically. The seventh placed team qualified to the three–match playoff series held in Cannock, which was to be played against the United States. The 2001 Women's Pan American Cup was the 1st edition of the Women's Pan American Cup. It was held between 8 and 18 March 2001 in Kingston, Jamaica.
