Lars Larsson Molin, alias ''Lasse-Maja'' (Djupdalen, Ramsberg, Västmanland, 5 October 1785 – 4 June 1845, Arboga), was a notorious Swedish thief and memoirist. He was famous in history for disguising himself as a woman during his tours as a thief. His disguise gave him the nickname ''Lasse-Maja'', a combination of the male name ''Lars'' and the female name ''Maja''. He wrote his own memoirs, which became very popular in 19th-century Sweden. Maria Olsdotter
Maria Olsdotter (1763–1856), was a Swedish miner. She owned and managed the iron ore mine of Stråssa in Bergslagen. She actively participated in the mining herself and has been described as the first woman mining inspector (''Gruvfogde'' or Mining Vogt) in Sweden. She became a famous figure in local folklore, and was known as "Gruvmora i Stråssa" ('Miner Mother of Stråssa') and "Gruv-Mor" ('Miner Mum'). Life She was the fourth of five daughters of the miner ”Mosis-Olle” Olof Ohlsson and Anna Israelsdotter. She and her siblings worked with their parents in the mine as children. ''Lasse-Maja'' is a 1941 Swedish historical comedy film directed by Gunnar Olsson and starring Sture Lagerwall, Liane Linden and Emil Fjellström.Krawc p.378 It also marked the screen debut of actress Mai Zetterling. Carlsten Fortress
Carlsten ( sv, Karlstens fästning) is a stone fortress located at Marstrand, on the western coast of Sweden. The fortress was built on the orders of King Carl X of Sweden following the Treaty of Roskilde, 1658 to protect the newly acquired province of Bohuslän from hostile attacks. The site of Marstrand was chosen because of its location and its access to an ice free port. The fortress was decommissioned as a permanent defense installation in 1882, but remained in military use until the early 1990s. History After peace in Roskilde in 1658, Bohuslän and thus Marstrand became Swedish. The city has long been a major trading place. Since the harbor almost never freezes, part of the Swedish Navy was stationed here. To defend Marstrand, Karl X Gustav decided to build a fortress on the island. Mälaren
Mälaren ( , , or ), historically referred to as Lake Malar in English, is the third-largest freshwater lake in Sweden (after Vänern and Vättern). Its area is 1,140 km2 and its greatest depth is 64 m. Mälaren spans 120 kilometers from east to west.
