Larry Buchanan
Larry Buchanan (January 31, 1923 − December 2, 2004), born Marcus Larry Seale Jr., was a film director, producer and writer, who proclaimed himself a " schlockmeister". Many of his extremely low-budget films have landed on "worst movie" lists or in the public domain, but all at least broke even and many made a profit. Most of his films were made for television and were never shown theatrically. He is perhaps most famous for his AIP films '' In the Year 2889'', ''The Eye Creatures'', ''Zontar, the Thing from Venus'', ''Curse of the Swamp Creature'', '' Creature of Destruction'', '' It's Alive!'', and ''Mars Needs Women'', all of which were released directly to late night television. A film director controls a film's artistic and dramatic aspects and visualizes the screenplay (or script) while guiding the film crew and actors in the fulfilment of that vision. A Bullet For Pretty Boy
''A Bullet for Pretty Boy'' is a 1970 American action film from director Larry Buchanan. It stars Fabian Forte as gangster Pretty Boy Floyd and co-stars Jocelyn Lane in her final performance before retiring from acting. Plot Oklahoma farmer Charles Floyd marries Ruby. At the reception, some goons insult Ruby and Charles attacks them. This results in Floyd's father and one of the goons being killed. Floyd is convicted of the crime and sent to work on the chain gang. Several years later Floyd escapes from prison and takes refuge in a brothel run by Beryl, where prostitute Betty falls for him. High Yellow
High yellow, occasionally simply yellow (dialect: yaller, yella), is a term used to describe a light-skinned person of white and black ancestry. It is also used as a slang for those thought to have "yellow undertones". ''The Naked Witch'' is a 1964 American horror film produced by Claude Alexander, and written and directed by Larry Buchanan. It stars Libby Hall, Robert Short and Jo Maryman. The film was shot in 1960 and has a copyright date of 1961 but was not released until 1964. It tells the story of a university student who travels to Texas, where he inadvertently restores a dead witch to life. She then takes revenge on the Schöennig family, one of whom, her lover, had denounced her a century earlier. The student falls under the spell of the witch but recovers in time to save Kirska, the only remaining Schöennig, before he himself kills the witch again. ''The Naked Witch'' was financed by a Texan drive-in theater owner who wanted a movie with much nudity, but the actual amount of nudity is negligible. It was based on the true story of the controversial trial of a black man accused of raping a white woman in Dallas, Texas in the 1960s. The title is a version of the archaic American idiomatic phrase " free, white, and twenty-one", which means "beholden to no one". Plot The central conflict in this film is whether African-American businessman Ernie Jones (played by Frederick O'Neal) raped Swedish immigrant and civil rights Freedom Rider Greta Mae Hansen (played by Annalena Lund).
