Thomas William Landrum (born August 17, 1957) is a former right-handed Major League Baseball relief pitcher who played eight seasons with four teams, the Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Montreal Expos from to . Landrum finished sixth in the National League in saves with 26 in and had a 1.67 earned run average that season and finished seventh in the NL in saves with 17 in with the Pirates. In 361.1 innings pitched over 268 games, Landrum handled 76 total chances (31 putouts, 45 assists) without an error for a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. John Gill Landrum
John Gill Landrum (October 22, 1810 – January 19, 1882) was a Baptist pastor from Spartanburg, South Carolina, the namesake of Landrum, South Carolina. He signed the South Carolina Ordinance of Secession. He was most prominently at Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he is buried. He also served Bethlehem Baptist Church. Early years Landrum was born to Rev. Merriman Landrum in Rutherford County, Tennessee. He was baptized in 1824, and moved to South Carolina in 1828. American Revolution He was conversant in the history of the state, and when a monument was erected on the Cowpens battlefield in 1856, gave a speech. He was also at the 1855 celebration of the Battle of King's Mountain. Landrum gave the funeral sermon for Joshua Hawkins, a member of his church and hero of both Cowpens and King's Mountain. Phillip Mitchell Landrum (September 10, 1907 – November 19, 1990) was a Democratic U.S. Representative from Georgia. Born in Martin, Georgia, Landrum attended the public schools and Mercer University, in Macon, Georgia. He graduated from Piedmont College, in Demorest, Georgia (A.B., 1939) and from the Atlanta Law School (LL.B., 1941). While in college and law school, Landrum worked as Superintendent of Nelson (Georgia) High School (1937–1941). He was admitted to the bar in 1941 and commenced the practice of law in Canton, Georgia. He was an unsuccessful candidate for Congress in 1942. During the Second World War, Landrum enlisted as a private in the United States Army Air Corps on October 2, 1942. Richard E. Landrum (born March 31, 1946) is best known as a radio and TV broadcaster. He started his broadcasting career at the age of 16, while attending Douglas S. Freeman High School in western Henrico County (a Richmond suburb). Career Broadcasting Landrum started his broadcasting career at the age of 16 while still in high school, working part-time as a news reporter for radio station WLEE in Richmond under the mentorship of its vice-president and general manager Harvey Hudson. Landrum is a city in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 2,376 at the 2010 census. Landrum was founded in 1880 and incorporated in 1912. It is located just west of Interstate 26 between Spartanburg and Asheville, North Carolina. History The Landrum area was settled ''circa'' 1760 by homesteaders from Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. There, they built a fort approximately two miles from the current City of Landrum. The town of Landrum was founded in 1880 after the railroad was extended north from Spartanburg and named after John Gill Landrum, who gave the land for construction of the local depot. Landrum was incorporated as a town three years later. In 1973, it was made into a city. Geography Landrum is located at (35.175326, -82.186036).
