Landon Turner
Landon Turner (born May 15, 1993) is an American football Guard (gridiron football), guard who is currently a free agent. He played college football at North Carolina Tar Heels football, North Carolina. His uncle Jim Braxton played professionally for the Buffalo Bills, Bills and Miami Dolphins, Dolphins in the 1970s. High school career Turner was a four-year starter at Harrisonburg High School (Virginia), Harrisonburg High School in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He was All-State his junior and senior years, as he paved the way for running back Michael Holmes, who later played at Virginia Tech Hokies football, Virginia Tech, to rush for more than 5,000 yards combined in both seasons. Guard (gridiron Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center and the tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university.
