Lambrakis Press
The Lambrakis Press Group S.A. ( el, Δημοσιογραφικός Οργανισμός Λαμπράκη, ΔΟΛ) was a Greek media company. Since 1957, it was controlled by Christos Lambrakis and played a dominant role in Greek publishing and Greek politics, especially through its flagship newspapers, ''To Vima'' and ''Ta Nea''. The group also owned the news portal In.gr, the radio station Vima Fm 99.5 and the magazines MarieClaire, Cosmopolitan and Vita. In July 2017, a Greek first-instance court confirmed that the group would be acquired by Alter Ego Media S.A., a company including the media assets of Greek businessman Evangelos Marinakis. The court approval for the transfer ownership of DOL to Alter Ego followed the latter's success as the highest bidder in an auction process held earlier in 2017. Christos Lambrakis
Christos Dimitriou Lambrakis ( el, Χρήστος Δημητρίου Λαμπράκης; 24 February 1934 – 21 December 2009) was the owner of Lambrakis Press Group (DOL), one of the largest newspaper groups in Greece, and arguably the most influential. Biography Lambrakis was born in Athens, the son of publishing tycoon Dimitrios Lambrakis. The Lambrakis family originates from Chania in Western Crete. From 1954 to 1957 he worked as a journalist at the ''To Vima'' newspaper and was editor of the weekly magazine ''Tachydromos''. In 1957, at the age of 23, he took over the management of Lambrakis Press when his father Dimitrios died. Since 1970, when Lambrakis Press became a limited company, he has been chairman of the board. Evangelos Marinakis ( el, Ευάγγελος (Βαγγέλης) Μαρινάκης, born 30 July 1967) is a Greek media mogul, shipowner, lyricist and member of the Piraeus city council. He is the owner of the football clubs Olympiacos in Greece and Nottingham Forest in England. Early life Evangelos Marinakis was born in Piraeus, Greece on 30 July 1967. ''To Vima'' ( el, Το Βήμα, lit=The Tribune) is a Greek weekly newspaper first published in 1922 by Dimitris Lambrakis, the father of Christos Lambrakis, as ''Elefthero Vima'' (Free Tribune). ''Ta Nea'' ( el, Τα Νέα, italic=yes; Translation: ''The News'') is a daily newspaper published in Athens. It was owned by Lambrakis Press Group (DOL), which also published the newspaper '' To Vima''. The assets of DOL were acquired in 2017 by Alter Ego Media S.A. The newspaper began publishing in 1931 under the title (''Athinaika Nea'', ''Athens News''), with the first issue being released on May 28.
