Luke Scanlon
Luke Scanlon (born 2 June 1996) is an Irish people, Irish Hurling, hurler who plays as a Goalkeeper for the Kilkenny GAA, Kilkenny senior team. Born in Kilkenny, Scanlon first played competitive hurling at CBS Kilkenny, winning back-to-back Leinster Colleges Senior Hurling Championship, Leinster medals in 2013 and 2014. He simultaneously came to prominence at juvenile and underage levels with the James Stephens GAA, James Stephens club, winning a minor championship medal in 2012. Scanlon subsequently joined the James Stephens senior team. Scanlon made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he was selected for the Kilkenny minor team. He enjoyed two championship seasons with the minor team, culminating with the winning of an All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship, All-Ireland medal in 2014. James Stephens GAA
James Stephens is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Kilkenny, Ireland. The club was founded in 1887 and has enjoyed equal success in both hurling and Gaelic football. History James Stephens was founded in 1887 as a hurling club. The club is named after James Stephens, founding member of the Irish Republican Brotherhood and took part in its first championship in 1888. The club was founded in the area of Patrick Street in Kilkenny city, an area locally known as 'the Village.' The James Stephens colours of red and green were adopted as a result of the purchase of a set of jerseys from Erin's Own at a price of 30 shillings. The Leinster GAA Hurling Senior Championship, known simply as the Leinster Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition in the province of Leinster, and has been contested every year since the 1888 championship. The 2013 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship (also known as the Electric Ireland GAA Hurling All-Ireland Minor Championship for sponsorship reasons) was the 83rd staging of the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1928. The championship began on 11 April 2013 and ended on 8 September 2013. Tipperary entered the championship as the defending champions; however, they were beaten by Limerick in the Munster semi-final. On 8 September 2013 Waterford won the championship following a 1-21 to 0-16 defeat of Galway in the All-Ireland final. This was their 3rd All-Ireland title overall and their first since 1948. The 2017 All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship was the 54th staging of the All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1964. The championship began on 24 May 2017 and ended on 9 September 2017. Waterford entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Cork in the Munster semi-final. Meath fielded a team in the championship for the first time in several seasons. On 9 September 2017, Limerick won the championship following a 0-17 to 0-11 defeat of Kilkenny in the All-Ireland final. 2018 National Hurling League
The 2018 National Hurling League was the 87th season of the National Hurling League for county teams. Wexford finished top of Division 1B in 2017 and were promoted to Division 1A for 2018. Galway finished second in Division 1B in 2017 and so missed out on promotion, even though they subsequently won the Division 1 league final. Cavan re-entered the National Hurling League in Division 3B, having previously withdrawn. Lancashire also entered in Division 3B for the first time.
