Luke Meade
Luke Meade (born 29 October 1996) is an Irish hurler who plays as a centre back for club side Newcestown and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a midfielder. Playing career Hamilton High School Meade first came to prominence as a hurler with the Hamilton High School in Bandon. Having played at every grade, he was at midfield on the school's senior team that won the O'Callaghan Cup in 2014 and contested the Harty Cup. Mary Immaculate College As a student at Mary Immaculate College, Meade joined the college senior team during his second year of studies. In 2017 he was at left corner-forward as Mary Immaculate College retained the Fitzgibbon Cup title following a 3-24 to 1-19 defeat of the Institute of Technology, Carlow. Newcestown () is a small village located 35 km from the city of Cork in the western part of County Cork, Ireland. It is a village with a church, a school, a pub and GAA club. The 2015 Cork Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship was the 12th staging of the Cork Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 2004. The 2014 Cork Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship was the 11th staging of the Cork Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 2004. The draw for the opening round of the championship took place at the County Convention on 15 December 2013. The championship began on 24 May 2014 and ended on 12 October 2014. On 16 August 2014, Kilbrittain were relegated from the championship following a 1-16 to 1-22 defeat by Watergrasshill. On 12 October 2014, Ballyhea won the championship following a 1-17 to 0-16 defeat of Newcestown in the final. This remains their only championship title in the grade. The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Intermediate Club Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Club Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the second highest inter-county club hurling competition in Ireland, and has been contested every year since the 2004-05 championship. The final, currently held on the third Saturday in January, is the culmination of a series of games played between October and January with the winners receiving the cup.
