Lucban
Lucban, officially the Municipality of Lucban (), is a municipality in the province of Quezon, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 53,091 people. Lucban is dubbed as the Summer Capital, Art Capital, Dance Capital, Tourist Capital, and Rice Capital of Quezon province. The municipality is known for its annual Pahiyas Festival, which is held every May 15 in honor of San Isidro Labrador and known also as the 'Baguio' counterpart of the province. Etymology Legend has it the town derives its name from the ''lukbán'' or pomelo tree. Three hunters from neighbouring Majayjay— namely Marcos Tigla, Luis Gamba, and Lucas Mañawa— lost their way following the trail of wild animals at the foot of volcanic Mount Banahaw. Isidore the Laborer, born Isidro de Merlo y Quintana, also known as Isidore the Farmer () ( – 15 May 1130), was a Mozarab farmworker who lived in medieval Madrid. Known for his piety toward the poor and animals, he is venerated as a Catholic patron saint of farmers, and of Madrid; El Gobernador, Jalisco; La Ceiba, Honduras; and of Tocoa, Colón, Tocoa, Honduras. Majayjay (), officially as the Municipality of Majayjay (), is a municipality in the province of Laguna, Philippines. As of the 2020 census, the municipality has a population of 27,893 residents. History Luzonian town Since time immemorial, Majayjay had been a Luzonian town of Tagalog citizens. It was founded at the foot of the mountain, which gave it an abundant supply of fresh spring water. Four rivers flowed through the town: Initian, Oobi, Olla, and Balanac (from the falls of Botocan) where all the rivers meet.
