Louisiana Highway 62 (LA 62) is a state highway located in Washington Parish, Louisiana. It runs in a north–south direction from LA 10 in Sheridan to the Mississippi state line north of State Line. The route connects the small rural communities of Pine and State Line with LA 10, the main east–west route through Washington Parish. LA 10 leads to Bogalusa, the parish's largest city, as well as Franklinton, the parish seat. LA 62 follows a slightly winding route from southwest to northeast, but it serves a generally north–south function and is bannered accordingly. 1955 Louisiana Highway Renumbering
In 1955, Louisiana passed a law that undertook a comprehensive revision to the state highway classification and numbering system. The new system designated roads by importance to travel patterns and rectified the previous numbering system under new unified designations. History Highway numbers in Louisiana first appeared in 1921, per Act 95 of the 1921 Special Session of the Louisiana Legislature. Routes 1 through 98 were defined that year. These first 98 routes remained consistent throughout the pre-1955 era. The lowest numbered routes seem to have followed major auto trails; for instance, LA 1 was the Jefferson Highway, LA 2 was the Old Spanish Trail, etc. The remainder of the numbering system seemed to work on a lower-number, higher-order principle, with some clustering; for instance, LA 61 and 62 both existed in St. Bernard Parish. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is a state government organization in the United States, in charge of maintaining public transportation, roadways, bridges, canals, select levees, floodplain management, port facilities, commercial vehicles, and aviation which includes 69 airports, in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The agency has approximately five thousand personnel on staff and an operating budget of $2.3 billion. DOTD operations are run through nine district offices across the state. The current DOTD Secretary is Shawn D. Wilson, appointed in January 2016 by Governor John Bel Edwards. Tylertown, Mississippi
Tylertown is a town in Walthall County, Mississippi, United States. It is the county seat of Walthall County. The population was 1,609 at the 2010 census. History The town of Tylertown was first known as the Magee Settlement. It was settled by emigrants of the Magee and Thornhill families, who came from South Carolina. J. Thornhill acquired the first tract of land for the settlement on September 20, 1816, after Native Americans were pushed out of the area. Cullen Conerly went there in 1850 and bought out the Garland Hart store and established a post office which was called Conerly's post office. The store and post office served as the social center of the community for over a half century. The town bore the name Conerly's from 1848 to 1879. It was renamed as Tyler Town in honor of William G. Mississippi Highway 48 (MS 48) is a state highway in southern Mississippi. It runs from east to west for , serving a total of four counties: Marion, Walthall, Pike, and Amite. Route description MS 48 begins in Amite County in the town of Centreville at an intersection with MS 24/ MS 33 at the eastern edge of town, with the road continuing westward as E Howard Street into downtown.
