Lonely Astronaut Records is a record label founded by musician Joseph Arthur, his long-time professional partner Lauren Pattenaude, and Eric Gerber. The label was created in 2006. Thus far, the label has only its founder Joseph Arthur on the roster, which also includes releases produced with his band The Lonely Astronauts. Joseph Arthur
Joseph Arthur (born September 28, 1971) is an American singer-songwriter and artist from Akron, Ohio. He is best known for his solo material, and as a member of Fistful of Mercy and RNDM. Arthur has built his reputation over the years through critically acclaimed releases and constant touring; his unique solo live performances often incorporate the use of a number of distortion and loop pedals, and his shows are recorded live at the soundboard and made available to concertgoers immediately following the show on recordable media. Arthur was discovered by Peter Gabriel in the mid-1990s, and signed to Gabriel's Real World label as the first North American artist on the label's roster. Arthur released his debut album, ''Big City Secrets'' (1997), and follow-up, '' Come to Where I'm From'' (2000), on Real World before signing with various independent labels between 2002 and 2006. ''Temporary People'' is the seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Joseph Arthur, released on September 30, 2008, on Lonely Astronaut Records. Co-produced by both Arthur and Kenny Siegal – who had previously worked with Arthur on '' Nuclear Daydream'' (2006) – the album was recorded with backing band The Lonely Astronauts, and features guest musician Garth Hudson on organ and piano. ''Vagabond Skies'' is an EP by singer-songwriter Joseph Arthur, released June 10, 2008, and is the third in a series of four EPs released in anticipation of Arthur's seventh studio album, ''Temporary People''. According to Arthur, this EP is "more stripped-down, more acoustic and slower...it's more of a late-night type of music." ''Let's Just Be'' is the sixth studio album by Joseph Arthur, and his first with his backing band The Lonely Astronauts. The album was released on April 17, 2007 in the US, and on September 3, 2007 in the UK. According to Arthur: "the philosophy of the whole record was sort of a letting go, that's why I called it ''Let's Just Be'', because it was like everything about that record ame froma Zen-like approach. Just letting things be how they are." ''Let's Just Be'' was released seven months after his previous album, '' Nuclear Daydream''. RED Music, stylized RED MUSIC, formerly RED Distribution, LLC (Relativity Entertainment Distribution) was a Sony-owned sales and marketing division that merged under The Orchard in 2017. RED previously handled releases for more than sixty independent record labels. ''Nuclear Daydream'' is the fifth full-length album by Joseph Arthur, released on September 19, 2006. It was the first release through Joseph's own record label, Lonely Astronaut Records. The album version of " Enough to Get Away" was the first single in the UK to coincide with the album's release there. music videowas produced for "Slide Away," featuring Joseph and his band The Lonely Astronauts.
