BBC America
BBC America is an American basic cable network that is jointly owned by BBC Studios and AMC Networks. The channel primarily airs sci-fi and action series and films, as well as selected programs from the BBC (such as its nature documentary series). Unlike the BBC's domestic channels in the United Kingdom, BBC America does not receive funding from the British license fee (which is the principal funding for the BBC's channels within the United Kingdom), as the BBC cannot fund any of its channels that are available outside the United Kingdom. Consequently, BBC America operates as a commercial-supported channel and accepts traditional advertising. It is also funded by television subscription fees. ''Mud, Sweat & Gears'' is a television series that premiered on 26 January 2015 on BBC America in the U.S. and BBC Brit internationally. The hosts, Tom Ford and Jonny Smith, and two teams of two car enthusiasts have a day to perform car stunts in California. Production BBC America and BBC Worldwide announced it had given the green-light for the series on 27 February 2014, which will broadcast on its channels across the globe. ''A Perfect Planet'' is a 2021 five-part earth science series presented by David Attenborough. The first episode premiered on 3 January 2021 on BBC One. Filming took place over four years, across 31 countries, with crew navigating difficulties in extreme temperatures and remote locations. The editing process was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
