This is a list of ''giallo'' films, a genre of Italian-produced murder mystery film blending the atmosphere and suspense of the thriller genre with elements of horror (such as slasher violence) and eroticism. ''Gialli'' often feature a number of distinctive plot elements, such as a mysterious killer (often dressed in a disguise and wearing black gloves) whose identity is revealed in the climax. The genre developed in the mid-to-late 1960s, peaked in popularity during the 1970s, and subsequently declined in commercial mainstream filmmaking over the next few decades, though examples continue to be produced. It was a predecessor to, and had significant influence on, the later slasher film genre. The Case Of The Scorpion's Tail (1971)
''The Case of the Scorpion's Tail'' () is a 1971 giallo film directed by Sergio Martino and starring George Hilton (actor), George Hilton and Anita Strindberg alongside Ida Galli, Janine Reynaud, Alberto de Mendoza, and Luigi Pistilli. The film follows a string of murders occurring after the sudden death of a businessman with a valuable Life insurance, life insurance policy. Plot In London, Lisa Baumer, who is engaged in an extramarital affair with George Barnet, is informed that her husband Kurt has died in a plane explosion en route to Tokyo and that she will receive a life insurance payout of one million dollars in Athens. Lisa's former lover Philip threatens to expose a possibly incriminating letter from her unless she pays him off for it. A man with a facial scar murders Philip and steals the letter shortly before Lisa arrives at Philip's apartment.
