Kannada Cinema
Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. Kannada cinema is based in Gandhi Nagar, Bengaluru. The 1934 film '' Sati Sulochana'' directed by Y. V. Rao was the first talkie film released in the Kannada language. It was also the first film starring Subbaiah Naidu and Tripuramba, and the first screened in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom. It was produced by Chamanlal Doongaji, who in 1932 founded ''South India Movietone'' in Bengaluru. Major literary works have been adapted to the Kannada screen, such as B. V. Badavara Bandhu
''Badavara Bandhu'' () is a 1976 Indian Kannada language drama film directed by Vijay. It stars Rajkumar and Jayamala. The movie is also notable for the negative character played by K. S. Ashwath.The movie saw a theatrical run of 25 weeks and was declared a Blockbuster at the box office. Plot Despite being a B. A. graduate, Ranga( Rajkumar) is forced to work as a server in Annapoorna Hotel run by Badrinath( K. S. Ashwath) due to poverty. His father( Sampath) who suffers from Hemiparesis was once a rich man and lived a luxurious life until he was cheated by a shrewd Nagappa( Balakrishna). Ranga is loved by everyone in the hotel. He comes across different types of people in his daily life. He rescues Susheela( Jayamala) from committing suicide and gives her a new reason to live. He reforms an alcoholic Chaayapathi and mediates all the problems involving the workers. Kalpana (Kannada Actress)
Kalpana (18 July 1943 – 12 May 1979), born Lata, was an Indian actress who appeared in Kannada films. She was affectionately referred to as ''Minugu Taare'' ("A Shining Star") among the film fraternity. She was widely recognised as one of the greatest actresses of Kannada cinema who enjoyed both fan following and critical acclaim. She made her screen debut as a lead actress in the 1963 release '' Saaku Magalu'' directed by veteran B. R. Panthulu. During a career that spanned from the early 1960s to the late 1970s, Kalpana appeared in numerous commercially successful as well as critically appreciated films, many of which featured her alongside actor Rajkumar.
