Highlander (franchise)
''Highlander'' is a media franchise created by Gregory Widen. The series began with ''Highlander (film), Highlander'', a 1986 fantasy film starring Christopher Lambert, who played Connor MacLeod, the eponymous Highlander. There have been four theatrical ''Highlander'' films, one made-for-TV film, two live-action television series, an animated television series, an Highlander: The Search for Vengeance, anime film, original novels, comic books, and various licensed merchandise. The main character of the series, Connor MacLeod, was born in Glenfinnan in the Scottish Highlands in the 16th century, and is one of a number of Immortal (Highlander), immortals empowered by an energy called the Quickening and only able to die if beheaded. Other immortal protagonists from the MacLeod clan were introduced over time, including Duncan MacLeod, Quentin MacLeod and Colin MacLeod, each of whom exists in their own timelines. Amanda (Highlander)
Amanda is a fictional character in the television series '' Highlander: The Series'' and '' Highlander: The Raven,'' portrayed by actress Elizabeth Gracen. She is one of the Immortals, immune to old age and death except by taking the head off. Some Immortals play The Game, seeking each other out for a duel to the death, for which the survivor is rewarded with a Quickening. Amanda was created to be a former lover of fellow Immortal Duncan MacLeod, the protagonist of the ''Highlander: The Series'' television series. She originally appeared in the 1993 episode " The Lady and the Tiger" as a "villain of the week" type character. Billy Hartman (born 1957) is a Scottish actor, well known for playing the part of Terry Woods on ITV's ''Emmerdale'' from 1995 until his character was killed off in 2011. Immortal (Highlander)
In the '' Highlander'' franchise, human beings born with the power of " the Quickening" become immortal if they suffer a premature death by unnatural means (such as by violence). After this First Death, they are ageless and cannot definitively die unless their head is removed or destroyed. From the time they are born, immortals and "pre-immortals" cannot biologically have children. Immortals can sense each other's presence and may take Quickening, the "essence" or power that makes them immortal, from another of their kind by beheading them. They duel each other across the centuries, a deadly "Game" with few rules. Roxanne Hart (born July 27, 1952) is an American actress. She played Brenda Wyatt in the 1986 film '' Highlander'', and Nurse Camille Shutt on the CBS medical drama series '' Chicago Hope'' (1994–1998). Kurgan (Highlander)
The Kurgan is a fictional character from the first '' Highlander'' film. He is portrayed by Clancy Brown. He is an Immortal, the main antagonist to Connor MacLeod in '' Highlander'', and the latter's ultimate opponent in the Gathering. Peter Wingfield (born 5 September 1962) is a Welsh actor and anesthesiologist.
