With the founding act of the German Democratic Republic on October 7, 1949, the previously existing German People's Council transformed into the Provisional People's Chamber of the GDR. At 12:45 PM on October 7, during its 9th and final session in the Grand Hall of the German Economic Commission, the German People's Council decided to transform itself into the Provisional People's Chamber of the GDR. At 5:35 PM on the same day, the Provisional People's Chamber was constituted. One of the purposes of this constitution was to enact the Constitution of the GDR into effect. Socialist Unity Party Of Germany
The Socialist Unity Party of Germany (, ; SED, ) was the founding and ruling party of the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) from the country's foundation in 1949 until its dissolution after the Peaceful Revolution in 1989. It was a Marxism–Leninism, Marxist–Leninist communist party, established in 1946 as a Merger of the Communist Party of Germany and the Social Democratic Party of Germany, merger of the East German branches of the Communist Party of Germany and Social Democratic Party of Germany. The German Democratic Republic (GDR) was effectively a one-party state. Jonny Löhr
Jonny Löhr (20 February 1899 – 15 July 1967) was a German politician and diplomat. He was the first ambassador of the German Democratic Republic to Romania from 1950 to 1951. Life Jonny Löhr was born into a working-class family in Hamburg on 20 February 1899. After completing elementary school, he trained as a locksmith from 1913 to 1916. In 1917, he was conscripted for military service in the First World War. The war influenced his political views, and he joined the Young Communist League of Germany (KJVD) after completing his military service. In 1922, he joined the Communist Party of Germany. Löhr married Friedel Behrendt in 1924. By 1928, he had completed training as an engineer in Leipzig. He then studied at the International Lenin School in Moscow. During his studies in Moscow, he became a citizen of the Soviet Union. He was then assigned by the Comintern to work in Romania to support the communist movement there.
