Taha Carım
Taha Carım (1914-1977) was a Turkish diplomat who held several high-ranking posts in Turkish foreign service and was assassinated by Armenian gunmen from Justice Commandos of the Armenian Genocide. Biography Carım was born in 1914 in Geneva in a family of a diplomat. After completion of his studies at Galatasaray High School, he went on to study in France, eventually graduating from University of Toulouse. During the World War II on 29 October 1941, Carım joined the foreign service and would continue working at the ministry for 36 years until his death. He started his service at the General Secretariat Department and was soon sent to Trade Department where he rose to the rank of 3rd secretary. In 1948, Carım was sent to work at the Turkish Consulate in Athens. In 1952, after receiving the first rank, he was sent to lead the embassy in Alexandria and the same year he started representing Turkey in NATO. Coşkun Kırca
Coşkun Kırca (27 March 1927 – 24 February 2005) was a Turkish diplomat, journalist and politician. He served as the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs in 1995. He was at first a member of the Republican People's Party (CHP), then of the Republican Reliance Party (CGP), then of the True Path Party (DYP). Biography He was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1927. He attended the Galatasaray High School in Istanbul and graduated from the School of Law at Istanbul University. In the 1950s he was a contributor of the '' Forum'' magazine. On 12 March 1985 the Turkish embassy in Ottawa, where Kırca served as Ambassador, was attacked by Armenian Revolutionary Army militants. Rather than being captured, Kırca escaped by leaping from the second-floor window at the back of the embassy, breaking his right arm, right leg and pelvis. Kerim Uras (born 6 June 1963, Ankara, Turkey) is a Turkish diplomat and Ambassador. He was the Turkish ambassador to Canada from December 2018 until April 2023. Biography He attended Ankara Tevfik Fikret High School and around 1985 he graduated from the Ankara University in the Faculty of International Relations. He finished his Master's degree from the University of Ankara. He started working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1985 and held various positions in the ministry. The Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Ottawa () is Turkey's diplomatic mission to Canada. It is housed in a sprawling Tudor style manor located at 197 Wurtemberg Street overlooking the Rideau River. The building was built by Fisheries Commissioner William F. Whitcher in about 1869. In 1888, it was expanded and housed the Ottawa Children's Hospital, and remained a hospital until 1908. In 1953, it became home to the Turkish embassy.
