Susan Lindquist
Susan Lee Lindquist, ForMemRS (June 5, 1949 – October 27, 2016) was an American professor of biology at MIT specializing in molecular biology, particularly the protein folding problem within a family of molecules known as heat-shock proteins, and prions. Lindquist was a member and former director of the Whitehead Institute and was awarded the National Medal of Science in 2010. Early life and education Lindquist was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Iver and Eleanor (née Maggio), and attended Maine South High School in Park Ridge. Lindquist's father and mother were of Swedish and Italian descent, respectively, and although they expected her to become a housewife, Susan studied microbiology at the University of Illinois as an undergraduate and received her PhD in biology from Harvard University in 1976. Anders Gunnar Lindquist (born 21 November 1942) is a Swedish applied mathematician and control theorist. He has made contributions to the theory of partial realization, stochastic modeling, estimation and control, and moment problems in systems and control. He is known for the discovery of the fast filtering algorithms for (discrete-time) Kalman filtering in the early 1970s, and his work on the separation principle of stochastic optimal control and, in collaborations with Giorgio Picci, the Geometric Theory for Stochastic Realization. Together with late Christopher I. Byrnes (dean of the School of Engineering & Applied Science at Washington University in St. Louis from 1991 to 2006) and Tryphon T. "A Perfect Day" (first line: "When you come to the end of a perfect day") is a parlor song written by Carrie Jacobs-Bond (1862–1946) in 1909 at the Mission Inn, Riverside, California. Jacobs-Bond wrote the lyrics after watching the sun set over Mount Rubidoux from her 4th-floor room. She came up with the tune three months later while touring the Mojave Desert. For many years the Mission Inn played "A Perfect Day" on its carillon at the end of each day. Popularity "A Perfect Day" was phenomenally successful when first published in 1910. Lindquist Island is an island in Queensland, Australia. It is within the locality of Cowley Beach in Cassowary Coast Region. It forms part of the Cowley Beach Training Area military base. Lindquist Field is a baseball park in the western United States, located in Ogden, Utah. It has a capacity for 8,700 fans and it is the home field of the Ogden Raptors, an independent minor league team in the Pioneer League. Vic Lindquist
Victor Carl Lindquist (March 22, 1908 – November 30, 1983) was a Canadian ice hockey player who competed in the 1932 Winter Olympics. Lindquist was born in Gold Rock, Ontario. Lindquist led the Winnipeg Hockey Club, the Canadian team which won the gold medal at the 1932 Winter Olympics. He played five matches and scored three goals. He was inducted into the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame in 1997. He has been inducted into the North Western Ontario Sports Hall of Fame. He coached Sweden at the 1936 Summer Olympics.
