Linda Tyler
Linda Rose Tyler is a New Zealand art historian, and is an associate professor at the University of Auckland. Tyler was awarded an Auckland Museum Medal in 2014 for her work promoting the use of museum collections. Academic career Tyler completed a Master's in Fine Arts degree at the University of Canterbury in 1986, studying émigré architect Ernst Plischke. She later completed a PhD on botanist and artist John Buchanan titled ''Drawn from Nature: art and science in the work of John Buchanan'' at the University of Auckland in 2018. Tyler was the Curator of the art collection at the Waikato Museum of Art and History, and then Curator of the Pictorial Collection at the Hocken Collections in Dunedin. She has taught art and design history and curation at the University of Canterbury, Victoria University of Wellington, the University of Waikato and the University of Auckland. The Auckland War Memorial Museum (), also known as Auckland Museum, is one of New Zealand's most important museums and war memorials. Its neoclassical architecture, neoclassical building constructed in the 1920s and 1950s, stands on Observatory Hill, the remains of a dormant volcano, in the Auckland Domain, near Auckland CBD. Milan Mrkusich
Milan Mrkusich (5 April 1925 – 13 June 2018) was a New Zealand artist and designer. He was considered a pioneer of abstract painting in New Zealand. Retrospective exhibitions of his work were organised by the Auckland Art Gallery in 1972 and 1985, and at the Gus Fisher Gallery in 2009. A substantial monograph was published by Auckland University Press in 2009. Mrkusich was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services to painting, in the 1997 Birthday Honours (New Zealand), 1997 Queen's Birthday Honours, and was one of ten inaugural Icon Award recipients from the Arts Foundation of New Zealand in 2003. Jacqueline Mary Fahey (born 1929) is a New Zealand painter and writer. Biography Of Irish Catholic ancestry, Fahey was born in Timaru in 1929. Lonnie Hutchinson
Lonnie Hutchinson (born Auckland 1963) is a New Zealand artist of Māori (Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Kurī ki Ngāi Tahu), Samoan and European descent. In 2024 Hutchinson was awarded the My ART Visual Arts Award, making an Arts Foundation of New Zealand, Arts Foundation Laureate. Education Hutchinson received a Diploma in Textile Printing from the Auckland Institute of Technology in 1992 and a Bachelor of Design (3D Design) from the Unitec Institute of Technology in 1998. She completed her Diploma of Education in 1999 and has worked as a teacher. Career and practice Hutchinson has worked in a range of artistic media, including film, performance, painting, sculpture and installation art.
