Linda (given Name)
Linda is an English feminine given name that has been widespread in the English-speaking world since the end of the nineteenth century. Etymology The German name ''Linde'' was originally an abbreviated form of older names such as ''Dietlinde'' and ''Sieglinde''. In the form ''Linda,'' it was used by the writer Jean Paul for a leading character in his four-volume novel ''Titan (Jean Paul novel), Titan'', published 1800–1803, and it became popular in German-speaking countries thereafter. The name-element ''Linde'' is possibly derived from the same root as the Tilia, linden tree, with reference to a shield made of that wood, but may have become associated with Germanic languages, Germanic ''lind'' meaning "soft, tender", the image of the tree being used to indicate a gentle personality. Subsequent support for its appeal may have come from the Neo-Latin language (Italian language, Italian, Spanish language, Spanish or Portuguese language, Portuguese) word Wiktionary:linda, ''linda'', ...

The Story Of G
''The'' is a grammatical article in English, denoting nouns that are already or about to be mentioned, under discussion, implied or otherwise presumed familiar to listeners, readers, or speakers. It is the definite article in English. ''The'' is the most frequently used word in the English language; studies and analyses of texts have found it to account for seven percent of all printed English-language words. It is derived from gendered articles in Old English which combined in Middle English and now has a single form used with nouns of any gender. The word can be used with both singular and plural nouns, and with a noun that starts with any letter. This is different from many other languages, which have different forms of the definite article for different genders or numbers. Pronunciation In most dialects, "the" is pronounced as (with the voiced dental fricative followed by a schwa) when followed by a consonant sound, and as (homophone of the archaic pronoun '' the ...
