Limerick FC
Limerick Football Club was an association football club based in Limerick, Ireland who played in the League of Ireland and currently have teams competing in the underage National League of Ireland. The first Limerick Football Club was founded in 1937 and has had a number of guises through its history, known at different times as Limerick, Limerick United, Limerick City and Limerick 37. Each manifestation of the club has been the sole representative of senior football in Limerick city since 1937. Limerick won the League of Ireland title twice, in the 1959–60 and 1979–80 seasons, and the FAI Cup twice, in 1971 and 1982. Markets Field
The Markets Field is a UEFA category two stadium in Garryowen, Limerick, Ireland with a capacity of around 3,500. Formerly the home of Limerick FC, it is currently the home ground of Treaty United. The ground has hosted underage international fixtures in 2015 and 2021, as well as the 2016 League of Ireland Cup final between Limerick and St Patrick's Athletic. History The site was originally a Gaelic games ground, having been used as a venue for Munster championship games in both hurling and Gaelic football, with most of the All-Ireland semi-finals between Munster and Connacht teams taking place there in the 1900s. It was also the home of Garryowen from 1886 until 1957, when the club moved to new facilities in Dooradoyle. Ewan Fenton
Alexander Ewan Fenton (17 November 1929 – 3 April 2006) was a Scottish professional footballer. He spent thirteen seasons at Blackpool, with whom he was victorious in the famous FA Cup Final of 1953. Playing career Born in Dundee, Fenton began his career with Scottish junior side Lochee Harp. In 1946, at the age of 17, he signed professional forms with Blackpool. He made his Seasiders debut at Bloomfield Road two years later, in September 1948, as understudy to skipper Harry Johnston. In 1952–53, his patience was rewarded when he appeared regularly in the first team. He had established himself enough to the liking of manager Joe Smith that he made the starting eleven for the FA Cup Final. In 1956, Fenton was named club captain. Fenton had a transfer request turned down in 1958, but in May of 1959, he was released, and joined Wrexham for a small fee. The High Court () of Ireland is a court which deals at first instance with the most serious and important civil and criminal cases. When sitting as a criminal court it is called the Central Criminal Court and sits with judge and jury. It also acts as a court of appeal for civil cases in the Circuit Court. Eoin Hand
Eoin Kevin Joseph Colin Hand (born 30 March 1946) is an Irish former footballer and football manager. As a player, his normal position was centre-half. He works as a television and radio football commentator for RTÉ in Ireland. Playing career Hand played schoolboy football with Stella Maris. As a 17-year-old, Hand was signed by Swindon Town but the move did not work out and he returned quickly to Ireland. He started his League of Ireland career with short spells for Dundalk and Shelbourne but it was with Drumcondra that he found most success. After a series of outstanding displays, he was signed by Portsmouth F.C. for a transfer fee of £8,000 in October 1968. Johnny Walsh (footballer, Born 1957)
Johnny "Jabber" Walsh (born 8 November 1957) is an Irish former footballer who played as a midfielder. He made his one and only appearance for the Republic of Ireland national team on 30 May 1982 in a 2–1 defeat to Trinidad and Tobago in Port of Spain. Walsh scored the opening goal in a 2–1 win for the League of Ireland XI against the Scottish Football League XI on St Patrick's Day 1980. At club level, he played for many years on the successful Limerick F.C. teams of the 1980s. Walsh made his League of Ireland debut on 3 October 1976. Al Finucane
Michael Alphonsus Finucane (born 8 January 1943) was an Irish footballer who played as a defender. During his 28-year career he played for League of Ireland sides Limerick, Waterford United and Newcastlewest. Finucane was also a member of several Republic of Ireland national football team squads. Finucane played his first game for Limerick as a 17-year-old in 1961. Finucane played in Europe for Limerick against CSKA Sofia in 1965 and 21 years later for Waterford against Bordeaux. He is the oldest player who ever played in any European club competition beating Dino Zoff's previous record. In September 1986, when he appeared against Girondins de Bordeaux in the European Cup-Winners' Cup, he was 43 years and 261 days old.
