Limblifter
Limblifter is a Canadian alternative rock group from Vancouver, formed in 1996. History The group was originally formed by brothers Ryan Dahle and Kurt Dahle, as a side project from their main band, Age of Electric, along with a third member, Ian Somers. Their self-titled 1996 album, recorded after a mere 10 practices, spawned the Canadian rock radio hits "Tinfoil", "Vicious" and "Screweditup", but the band was hindered by staff alterations at their label Mercury Records. The group went on hiatus when Age of Electric regrouped for their 1997 album ''Make a Pest a Pet''. When AOE subsequently broke up, Limblifter became the Dahles' primary band. On April 2, 1998, Somers announced he was leaving the band. Todd Fancey joined the band as their new bassist. In 2000, the band released their second album, ''Bellaclava''. Although that release wasn't as successful commercially as ''Limblifter'', the singles "Ariel vs. Lotus" and "Wake Up to the Sun" were popular on radio. Kurt Dah ... Kurt Dahle
Kurt Colin Dahle is a Juno Award winning, Grammy nominated Canadian musician. Dahle is best known for his work as a drummer and vocalist with the rock bands Age of Electric, Limblifter, and The New Pornographers. Dahle's known for a heavy swing on his kick pedal and an ear for memorable fills. He is a multi-instrumentalist who plays drums, keyboard, organ, guitar, saxophone and bass. Ryan Dahle
Ryan Dahle (born 1970) is a Canadian musician, best known for his contributions to the bands Age of Electric and Limblifter, each of which have scored several major radio hits. The Age of ''Electric'' The Age of Electric was a band founded in 1989 that consisted of two sets of brothers, Ryan and Kurt Dahle, and Todd and John Kerns. Originally named just "Electric", the band got their start by playing original music in cover song clubs. Playing four long sets of music, six nights a week sometimes 48 weeks a year, they not only learned to play but learned how to perform in these rugged bars and pubs of Western Canada. In 1994, The Age of Electric released the ''Ugly'' EP, which sold well independently. The New Pornographers are a Canadian indie rock band, formed in 1997 in Vancouver. Presented as a musical collective of singer-songwriters and musicians from multiple projects, the band has released eight studio albums to critical acclaim for their use of multiple vocalists and elements of power pop incorporated into their music. Todd George Fancey is a Canadian guitarist, keyboardist, and solo artist. He is the guitarist for Vancouver-based indie rock band The New Pornographers and the bassist for the band Limblifter. Fancey is originally from Nova Scotia. Early life Fancey was born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. Solo career Fancey released his first solo album, ''Fancey'' on March Records in 2004. Matthew Good Band
Matthew Good Band was a Canadian alternative rock band formed in Coquitlam, British Columbia in 1995. The band consisted of singer-songwriter/guitarist Matthew Good, guitarist/keyboardist Dave Genn, drummer Ian Browne and bassist Geoff Lloyd. Lloyd was replaced by Rich Priske in 1998. They became one of the most successful rock bands in Canada during the late 1990s and early 2000s, being nominated for 14 Juno Awards and winning the awards for " Best Group" and " Best Rock Album" ('' Beautiful Midnight'') in 2000. Matthew Frederick Robert Good (born June 29, 1971) is a Canadian musician. He was the lead singer and songwriter for the Matthew Good Band, one of the most successful alternative rock bands in Canada during the 1990s and early 2000s. Canadian rock music charts (established June 11, 1995) publishes a weekly alternative rock music chart under the name ''Alternative 30.'' RPM charts On June 11, 1995, Canadian music magazine '' RPM'' began publishing a weekly alternative rock music chart under the name ''Alternative 30''. The song which held the number-one spot on this first chart was " More Human than Human" by White Zombie. The chart took a break from December 14, 1998, to April 11, 1999, and returned on April 12 under the new name ''Rock Report''. "Free Girl Now" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers debuted at the top of this newly named chart. On October 25, 1999, the chart made a slight change to the name ''Top 30 Rock Report''.
