Liberty Racing
Liberty Racing was an American auto racing team co-owned by former Cleveland Cavaliers player Brad Daugherty and owner of Liberty auto Group Jim Herrick. The team ran a single Ford in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series between 1995 and 2000. Notable drivers included Kevin Harvick and Kenny Irwin Jr. History In 1995, Butch Miller joined the fledgling Craftsman Truck Series, driving the No. 98 Raybestos/Herrick Racing Ford. He would run full-time before leaving at the end of 1996. Kenny Irwin Jr would join, and score 2 wins at Homestead-Miami Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway, seven top-5s, and 10 top-10 finishes in 1997, on his way to a 10th-place finish in the final point standings. Brad Daugherty (basketball)
Bradley Lee Daugherty (born October 19, 1965), nicknamed "Big Train" and "El Gato Grande", is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels and professionally with the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Daugherty is a co-owner of NASCAR Cup Series team Hyak Motorsports. Daugherty's race teams have won in the Truck Series, Xfinity Series and the Cup Series including the 2023 Daytona 500. He is also an analyst for NASCAR on NBC. Brad also is the 2 time Emmy Award Winning Color Analyst for The Cleveland Cavaliers of the NBA. Amateur career Daugherty played basketball at Charles D. 2000 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
The 2000 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series was the sixth season of the Craftsman Truck Series, the third highest stock car racing series sanctioned by NASCAR in the United States. Greg Biffle of Roush Racing was crowned the series champion, giving Ford its first Truck Series championship and ending Chevrolet's five-year streak. The season was marred by the death of Tony Roper in the penultimate race of the season at Texas Motor Speedway. His death was the third of three driver fatalities across the nationwide NASCAR circuits in 2000 that included Kenny Irwin Jr. and Adam Petty. Jeff Purvis
Jeffery Purvis (born February 19, 1959) is a former race car driver in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He is a 15-year veteran with four wins and 25 top-five finishes. He suffered a massive brain injury after a 2002 crash and has not run a NASCAR-sanctioned race since 2004. Before coming to NASCAR he was an accomplished dirt track racer winning the World 100 at Eldora Speedway on three occasions-1983,1984,and 1986. Nascar career Winston Cup Series Purvis made his NASCAR debut in 1990. He was hired to drive Bobby Allison's No. 12 Raybestos Buick at Martinsville Speedway. Kenny Irwin Jr
Kenneth Dale Irwin Jr. (August 5, 1969 – July 7, 2000) was an American stock car racing driver. He had driven in all three NASCAR national touring series, and had two total victories, both in the Craftsman Truck Series. Before that, he raced in the United States Auto Club against Tony Stewart, who was one of his fiercest rivals. He died as a result of injuries suffered in a crash during a practice session at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Early life Irwin grew up in Indianapolis and was the third youngest of four children. He began racing quarter-midgets before he was in the second grade. He graduated from Lawrence North High School in 1988 where he played varsity soccer, while continuing his career as a driver.
